SNAP Notification

SNAP notification for the 2019 MBA entrance exam has been published by Symbiosis International deemed university. The test is mandatory for admission to 16 Symbiosis institutes for their MBA and MSc programs. Registration for SNAP test will commence on August 16, 2019. As aspirants gear up to apply for the test and prepare for it, some notable changes introduced to the exam are presented here.

The exam pattern of SNAP 2019 has once again had a makeover. The total questions have been reduced from 130 to 110. Special questions, that are non-objective type, have been reduced from 20 to 5; now only Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency section will have special questions.

So the new exam pattern of SNAP exam is that it has four sections namely General English, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, and Current Affairs. They will have 30, 30, 30, and 20 normal questions each, and the third section will have 5 special questions too.

Marking scheme has also changed. Now, marks for correct answers in respective sections will be 1.5, 1.5, 1, and 1. Marks for special questions will be 5.

There is negative marking also in SNAP. Negative marking refers to the marks deducted from total score when a wrong answer is marked. In SNAP 2019, it is 25%. That is negative marking for respective sections will be 0.3125, 0.3125, 0.25, 0.25, and for special questions it will be 0.5.

Thus, there will be 115 questions of 150 marks to be attempted in 120 minutes.

Symbiosis introduced “special questions” last year, which were questions that did not have multiple choices to select answer from. Instead, these questions are such that they have a blank where answers need to be entered correctly by candidate using virtual keyboard. Last year all the sections had 5 special questions each. However under the new pattern, only one section will have these.

SNAP exam has undergone several changes in the past years. It became a computer based test in the year 2017. In the year 2018, number of questions was reduced from 150 to 130.

There is no change in the number of sections, time duration, negative marking ratio.

SNAP 2019 registration will start from next Friday. Interested and eligible MBA aspirants need to apply online at snaptest.org by November 23, 2019. Those who successfully register will be able to download admit card from December 2, 2019. The exam will be held on December 15, 2019, from 2 pm to 4 pm. Symbiosis international deemed university will announce result of SNAP test on January 10, 2020.
