Candidates who appeared for RRB NTPC 2nd Stage Computer Based Test can now submit a new order of preferences from respective Railway Recruitment Board website. The decision to invite new preferences has been taken due to the implementation of seventh pay commission. Since the introduction of 7th CPC, some posts that came under RRB NTPC 2017 have undergone changes. The candidates who wish to change their preferences should not let go this opportunity.

To start with, the post of Assistant Station Master (ASM) in grade pay 2800 is upgraded and merged with that of Station Master (SM) in grade pay 4200 (level 6 as per 7th CPC). Also, Traffic Assistant grade pay was initially 2000 and is now enhanced to 2400 (level 4 as per 7th CPC).

Post Old New
Assistant Station Master Grade Pay of Rs 2800/- Upgraded & merged with the post of Station Master (SM) in Grade Pay of Rs 4200/- (Level 6 as per 7th CPC)
Traffic Assistant Grade Pay of Rs 2000/- Enhanced to Rs 2400/- (Level 4 as per 7th CPC)

Usually, applicants keep posts with lower grade pay in lower preferences, or as eligibility permits. Now that ASM is same as SM, and TA has a higher level, many candidates may wish to change their preferences.

With this in mind, candidates are now getting a chance to review preferences.

They can visit Railway Recruitment Board website and click on option preferences option for RRB NTPC. Duration given to submit new preferences is May 8, 2017 (00:00 hours) to May 14, 2017 (23:59 hours). Options can be re-submitted only through respective RRB website where initially form was submitted. Those who submit new options will have to fill up complete preferences with respect to all posts as earlier preferences will be ignored once you start changing preferences.

If a candidate does not make new preferences in given duration, then his/her old preferences will only be used.

No other chance will be given to change option preferences after this.

With the implementation of Seventh Pay Commission, there are now some changes to post and pay of Non Technical Popular Categories (NTPC). Railway Recruitment Board had held 2nd stage CBT from January 17 to 19, 2017. Railways are still processing 2nd stage CBT result. Now, before they declare RRB NTPC Result 2017, option to exercise preferences is being opened again due to the implementation of 7th CPC.

It has been a long time since the exams were held. Candidates are getting restless for NTPC Result and are seen wondering aloud on social media, that if the exams were computer based test, what could be causing a delay in result announcement.

One of the answers to that is here: Seventh Pay Commission implementation seems to have slowed down the process of Railways NTPC recruitment.

If you had appeared in RRB NTPC 2nd Stage CBT, then we advise you to visit RRB websites on given dates (May 8, 2017, to May 14, 2017) and fill up new preferences. Also, best of luck for result.
