The Indian Railways may conduct a massive recruitment drive this year. It is expected that the notification for RRB Assistant Station Master (ASM) will be released soon. The notification shall be released to fill up 50,000 vacancies for the given post alone.

This is a great opportunity for all the graduate candidates who are wondering what to do next.

The selection criteria can only be confirmed with the release of the recruitment notification. The written test will be conducted by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). Last year, the exam was of 100 marks and covered questions from topics like Arithmetic Ability, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and English. However, to apply for the post of Assistant Station Master, the candidates should fulfil the basic eligibility criteria. As per the eligibility norms, the candidate can apply for the given post, if they have qualified Graduation or its equivalent degree from any recognised University. Also, there is an age limit for the ASM post. The candidate should be between 18 and 32 years. Age Relaxation shall be applicable for the reserved categories as per the Govt. rules.

As per OdishaTV reports, the department may need more candidates to fill ASM posts lying vacant since years.

This, of course, is a good news for all those aspirants who are preparing for a job in Railways. With these many vacancies, one advantage to the candidate will be that the cut off to qualify for the job will be quiet less. However, the cut off not only depends on vacancies, if the candidates appearing for the posts is way more than the vacancies, then there are chances that the cut off may rise. Also, RRB Group D Recruitment 2018 is going on.

It is expected that the notification for the RRB ASM Recruitment 2018 shall be published by mid of this year. With the release of notification, the registration process shall also begin. The application will be available online at every RRB Zone website. In the online application, the candidate will need to enter their Personal Details, Educational Qualification Details, Communication and other necessary information. Upload scanned image of your Photograph and Signature, pay the requisite amount for the application fee and submit the application.

The selection of the candidate is expected to be on the basis of Prelims and Main examination. Those who qualify both the stages then shall have to finally appear for Personal Interview. Those qualifying all the stages of recruitment will then be finally appointed as Assistant Station Master at the preferred RRB.

Assistant Station Master

ASM will be given a salary of Rs. 5200 to Rs. 20200. The responsibility of ASM includes ensuring the safe running of trains, operating the signals, and confirm that everything goes as per the railway rules. RRB has laid down promotion scales for different posts. The process for promotion is a bit slow in comparison to other government organisations. For Assistant Station Master can go up to the position of Divisional Operations Manager. However, the benefits are no less.

To prepare for English Section, focus on one-word substitution, idioms and phrases, synonyms and antonyms, fill in the blanks (sentence completion), sentence errors, reading comprehension, sentence rearrangement and jumbled-up sentences.
