A noticeable growth in the number of applications has been witnessed by the English and Foreign Language University (EFLU), Hyderabad. Last year, the total number of application received by the University was 8617. The figure, this year, has risen to 12927.
It is remarkable growth in the number of applicants. The increase is more than 45% and the University claims that the rise is due to the increase in the number of the exam centers. To develop a pan-India reach, the University established 23 centers this year. Whereas, last year, the number of centers were only 8, across the nation.
To receive a pan-India response, we increased the number of centers from eight during last academic year to 23 during this academic year. The motive was to get students from all states – told Suresh Kumar, EFLU vice-chancellor to a leading daily.
As per the official figures provided by EFLU, 3010 candidates have applied for the BA (Hons.) English course, 542 for MA in Journalism and Mass Communication, 2079 for MA in English, 1513 for MA in English literature, and 680 for Ph.D. in English Literature. It seems that the competition this year will be tougher than any other year as the number of candidates has increased.
