Indian Railways is responsible for the whole of railway network in India, spanning over 67,000 kilometers which is the fourth largest railway network in the world. To sustain such an infrastructure, IR runs different production units, one of which is the Diesel Locomotive Works in Varanasi.
A production unit of the Indian Railways, DLW manufactores locomotives numbering around 200 per year, and related products and components including spare parts. Vide notification number 43rd batch Act Appt 2019, DLW Indian Railways notifies its intention of forming a panel for 374 vacancies.
The seats comprise of 300 for ITI and 74 for non ITI. For both types of seats, candidates of trades namely fitter, carpenter, painter, machinist, welder, electrician can apply. In ITI seats, the respective vacancies of these trades are 107, 3, 7, 67, 45, 71. Whereas in non ITI, there are respectively 30, 0, 0, 15, 11, and 18 seats.
Class 10th pass candidates between 15 to 22 years of age, with at least 50% in the same, are eligible for all the non ITI seats. Whereas for the ITI seats, one should have passed 10th with at least 50% and have ITI in the relevant stream, and be between 15 to 24 years of age. In the case of welder trade, the age limit is 15 to 22 only. The upper age limit for all trades is relaxed upto 5 years for SC, ST, 3 years for OBC.
DLW Varanasi invites interested and eligible candidates to apply online through its website dlw.indianrailways.gov.in. Upon reaching the website, candidates can access the link to apply online running under the news and announcements section.
The application fee for this recruitment is Rs 100. However SC, ST, PH, and women candidates are exempt from fee. Last date to apply online is November 21, 2019. The time at which registration link will be deactivated will be 4:45 pm on the last date.
Application form link provided by DLW at dlw.indianrailways.gov.in, for this recruitment, is of dlwapprentice.in. Candidates are required to submit their details in the online form, upload documents, pay fee and submit it before last date.
Indian Railways will select candidates for this railway recruitment 2019 on the basis of their marks in class 10th. Merit lists will be compiled for each unit. It may be noted that only such candidates who hold the prescribed qualifications on the date of issue of notification (October 21) will only be deemed eligible. And wherever two or more candidates have the same position in merit per their marks, there tie will be broken on the basis of their age.

After accepting applications and compiling merit list, DLW Indian Railways will publish list of selected candidates at dlw.indianrailways.gov.in. Shortlisted candidates will then have to present original certificates for verification. The recruitment / engagement will be governed by rules presented in instructions of Railway Board’s letter no (MPP) 2009/6/14 dated 06.10.2015 and other instructions issued from time to time.
