Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has announced the world university rankings for 2022 on its official website topuniversities.com. A total of 35 Indian universities have featured in the list and are thereby, the top universities in the country as of now. QS curated the list based on assessment according to 6 key metrics including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.
In the QS World University Rankings, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has acquired rank 177. This is followed by IIT Delhi at rank 185 and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore at rank 186. Various IITs across the country have featured in this list as well. IIT Madras is at rank 255, IIT Kanpur is at rank 277, IIT Kharagpur has acquired rank 280 and IIT Guwahati has achieved rank 395 in the list. Another IIT, located in Roorkee has achieved the eighth rank in the list of top 35 Indian universities.
Other than IITs, various other universities have also featured in this list. Delhi University is another non-IIT institution which has managed to achieve rank between 501-510 in the top 35 list. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has acquired rank between 561-570 in the list. Ranks between 591-600 have been assigned to IIT Hyderabad and Savitribai Phule Pune University whereas Jadavpur University and University of Hyderabad have been assigned ranks between 651-700. IIT Bhubaneswar and O.P. Jindal Global University have been ranked between 701-750.
Jamia Milia Islamia and Manipal Academy of Higher Education have been assigned ranks between 751-800 in the QS World University Rankings 2022. Anna University and Pondicherry University have acquired ranks between 801-1000. Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (Deemed to be University) and the University of Calcutta has also been listed between 801-1000 in the list of rankings. Aligarh Muslim University, Amity University and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have acquired ranks between the range of 1001-1200.
Banaras Hindu University and Birla Institute of Technology, Allahabad have also acquired ranks between 1001-1200 in the QS World Rankings List 2022. This list has featured a multitude of engineering institutes spread across the country. Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad is another engineering institute featured in the list between 1001-1200. Jamia Hamdard and Osmania University have also managed to feature in this list having acquired ranks between 1001-1200.
In the OS World University Rankings 2022, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Thapar Institute of Technology have been ranked between 1001-1200 as well. University of Mumbai and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) along with SRM Institute of Science and Technology have been assigned ranks as well between 1001-1200 in this list curated by the prestigious QS organisation.
