Punjabi University Patiala results show subject wise external marks, internal marks, and total marks. Name of student, course, exam session are also displayed. The university uses a few abbreviations or short forms in the results, which have meanings as explained here.
‘Pass’ means that the student has passed. ‘R’ indicates that he or she has to re-appear in the paper that is shown in that result field. Then ‘PRS’ means that the previous result stands, this can be shown only in the case of improvement candidate.
In some cases the university will announce results later. For such cases, separate abbreviations are used to identify the reason why their results will be delayed. To start with, ‘RL-R’ means that the result will announced later for that student due to non confirmation of eligibility by the registration branch. ‘RL-FEE’ indicates that result will be announced later due to non-adjustment of fee accounts.
Then ‘RL- AD’ is shown if there is a dispute leading to delay in results. And ‘RL- WRN’ is delay due to wrong roll number. ‘RL- AW’ is the result delayed case where the university needs some papers from the student. And finally the status ‘RL-Lower’ is shown for those whose results will come later on for want of declaration of result of lower examination. ‘RL-Ee’ means that the examination branch will first confirm eligibility and then his or her result will be out.
If the status shows ‘C.C’ then it means that the university has cancelled candidature. ‘(EX)’ simply means external paper, like ‘(INT)’ means internal paper.
Wherever ‘(**)’ is shown there meaning is against numbers; -2 means award wanting, -1 means zero marks, -3 means absent, -9 option not adopted, and -4 means UMC. ‘MARKS 0’ means failed in that subject.
Punjabi University runs a disclaimer on the website saying that it is not responsible for errors in the online results. Moreover the result issued online is only for immediate reference. To confirm results, students may refer the gazette. Also, these cannot be treated as original marksheets. The university separately issues original marksheets, which, students can collect from concerned college or from university as per existing norms.
The state university, Punjabi University, was founded in the year 1962. Besides the Hebrew University in Israel, it is only the second university in the world to be named after a language. The main aim of the varsity is to enrich and develop the Punjabi language as well as its culture.
