Promoting Tourism Education via ‘Tourism Students Festival 2020’ by New Tourism Foundation

The event aims to achieve the larger goal of bringing industry, academia, and students of tourism into the mainstream for accelerating the growth of tourism in the country.

A 2-day virtual festival will be conducted on October 16 and 17, 2020. The launch of this festival named Tourism Students Festival 2020 (TSF’20) was announced on September 20, 2020, by the registered non-profit organisation ‘New Tourism Foundation’.

Me. Vinod Zutshi, IAS (Retd), Former Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India, is the President and Chairman of the New Tourism Foundation 2020. Taling about the festival he has commented that “TSF’20 will be an apt platform, to help students of the sector to deal with their new challenges, to find solutions for their new skill requirement and to create more job opportunities through Government-industry-student-academia interface.”

Ms. Jyoti Mayal is the Co-Chairperson of TSF’20 and President of TAAI. She says that “TSF’20 is the much-needed initiative, as the industry prepares for the new normal in tourism. A student academia led interface with industry will empower the travel professionals of tomorrow”.”

Prateek Hira, MD Tornos, and also the Co-Chairman of TSF’20, says “TSF’20 will transform the future of tourism by empowering the young minds and inspiring them to lead tourism to a new direction”.

The event aims to achieve the larger goal of bringing industry, academia, and students of tourism into the mainstream for accelerating the growth of tourism in the country.

The festival will be 2 days long that will include the activity with Indian and foreign tourism students engaging with stalwarts in the field from the Government, Industry, and Academia.

The Festival aims to bring forth the high potential, innovative ideas, and bright minds of Students and Young Professionals into Travel, Tourism and Hospitality areas and infuse new energy and confidence within the young minds for making them more resilient to deal with the new global order.

There will be innovative sessions on Skilling for New Normal, Community and Sustainable Tourism, Leisure Tourism, Technology in Tourism, MICE Tourism, Destination Marketing, Tourism Journalism, Tourism Research, Adventure and Sports Tourism, Heritage Tourism, Gastronomy Tourism, Entrepreneurship, and Startups.

Tourism Students Festival 2020, aims to explore all possible measures by all stakeholders, to build a new ecosystem for tourism education and skilling; find solutions for new skill sets; create more job opportunities; rebuild the confidence of tourism students, and budding young professionals in the industry.

The Speakers at the Event will comprise Government officials from the Tourism department, thought leaders of travel, tourism, and hospitality industry, faculty from tourism education institutions, and young professionals. There will also be lively sessions by college bands, stand-up comics, folk music ensemble, and studio theatre, all on a single virtual platform.

Tourism Students Festival has been given ‘Incredible India’ Logo Support by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India. . The event is supported by TAAI, ITDC, OTOAI, ADTOI, ATOAI, RTSOI, Public Relations Society of India, and URJA as ‘Thought Partners’. Galgotia University, Ashok Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University are the Supporting Institutions and Le Meridien, Pride Hotels, and 5th Element Hospitality are the F & B Partners of TSF’20.

About New Tourism Foundation: New Tourism Foundation, is a non-profit registered body. It strives to provide policy and strategic inputs and opinions to organizations, governments, and Industry. It also organises tourism promotion activities like webinars, seminars, marts, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, festivals, and round table discussions to keep in regular dialogue with all stakeholders of the tourism industry.
