Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has dissolved Pune Municipal Corporation School Board. The term of the School Board ended this month and after that the Corporation dispensed it. Now, the PMC is planning to set up a new Education Department which will look after the primary and secondary education division.
“The PMC will now set up an education department which will look after the functioning of the primary and secondary education divisions,” stated the order issued by the commissioner
As per the order, 287 Primary Schools and 30 Secondary Schools will now be regulated by the PMC’s Education Department. It will be headed by additional Municipal Commissioner (General). The education officer will be the branch head for secondary division. The faculty will shift according to their rank to other departments and merge with employees of the civic body.
A recent order issued by Kunal Kumar stated the properties owned by education board will not be taken over by the civic body. The PMC accounts department will handle the expenses and purchase of stationery and other material will be under the civic body’s purchase department. The bank accounts of school board will be closed.
