The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) is jointly offered by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). PGDBA is a two year full-time residential programme costing a total of 24 lakhs. A common PGDBA application form for 2020-22 admissions will be released for the eligible candidates on the official website from December 3, 2019, and the same can be submitted by January 6, 2020.
To submit the form the candidates have to reach the official websites. Each year PGDBA admission details are put up at websites of each three institutes that are offering this course, which are iimcal.ac.in, iitkgp.ac.in and isical.ac.in. However considering that PGDBA 2020 details have been published by ISI Cal, candidates should head over to isical.ac.in for application form on the scheduled date.
The PGDBA course demands, that to be eligible to apply for the course, a “candidate must hold a graduate/post graduate degree with any of the following: 10+2+4/10+2+5/10+2+3+2 with a Minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying degree (i.e. BTech / BE / MSc / M Com or equivalent)”. The SC, ST and PwD category candidates are given a relaxation of 5% marks thus bringing the passing marks to 55% to be eligible to apply.
A requisite amount of Rs. 2000 has to be paid against the PGDBA form. However, for the SC, ST and PwD category candidates the same is Rs. 1000.
The exam of PGDBA 2020 is scheduled to be on February 16, 2020, from 10:30 AM till 1:30 PM. 50 objective type of questions of 150 marks having a negative marking of 1 mark for a wrong answer will be there in the paper. It will be held mainly in 40 different cities allotted as exam centers. Personal interview for the selected candidates is decided to be on March 28 & 29, 2020.
Applicants will undergo a selection procedure comprising of a written test and personal interview of 40 marks each. However, the final selection of the candidate for the PGDBA programme also takes into consideration class 10th and 12th marks along with the work experience. The total selection procedure is set on the scale of 100 marks.
As per the dates on the official website of ISI, isical.ac.in, the orientation programme for the selected candidates will start from June 15 to June 19, 2020. The first semester in ISI will commence from August 1, 2020, to December 18, 2020. Students will get some days off between switching to the other semester. As semester 2 at IIT Kharagpur will start from January 1, 2021, until May 10, 2021. The IIM Calcutta will start its III semester from June 7, 2021, till September 30, 2021. The last semester is dedicated to an internship for the students to get experience and try their hands on the analytical projects of the business for 6 months.
The programme holds good placement statistics so far. For the batch 2017-19, all the enrolled student got placed having a maximum package of Rs. 40 lakh per annum and average to be Rs. 25 lakh. For the students having a statistical mind and inclination towards mathematics its a golden opportunity to clear the PGDBA as even the stipend for the internship crosses a lakh amount.
The programme started in the year 2015 with an aim at creating business analytics professionals with an initial of 60 number of seats. The seat remains the same for the batch 2020-22 admission. The enrolled candidates for a 2-year PGDBA programme spends 6 months each in every 3 institutes and rest 6 months in the internship. Each institute focuses on a separate aspect of the course. Course on IIM Calcutta focuses on the application of analytics in functional areas. ISI will, therefore, focus on the statistical and machine learning theories for analytics. Similarly, IIM Kharagpur will inculcate the technology aspect of analytics.
