OPSC releases Odisha Civil Services notification 2019, 4 Attempts Limit, 153 Vacancies

Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released the notification for Odisha Civil Services examination 2019. The commission is organizing recruitment to group A posts in Odisha administrative service, Odisha police service, Odisha finance service, and for group B posts in Odisha co-operative service, Odisha revenue service, Odisha taxation and accounts service through it.

OPSC Odisha Civil Services 2019 application form will be available from November 13, 2019 to December 10, 2019. The last date for fee payment however will be December 16, 2019. Candidates can register at opsconline.gov.in, which is now redirecting to opsc.gov.in.

The commission conveys through the notification that examination fee shall be Rs 500. SC and ST of Odisha, PWD are exempt from any fee.

Also known as OAS, a total of 153 vacancies have been identified. There are 103 vacancies for unreserved, 8 for SEBC, 18 for SC, 24 for ST. Between the posts, vacancies division is as follows. To start with, there are 30 vacancies for OAS gr A (JB), 9 for OFS gr A (JB), 7 for OPS gr A (JB). Then there are 5 vacancies of OCS (ARCS / AGCS) gr B, 82 of ORS (gr B), and 20 of OT & AS gr B.

The lower age limit for OAS 2019 is 21 years, and upper is 32 years. The cut off date for age calculation is January 1, 2019. Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC, women, ex-S, and 10 years for PWD.

Civil services aspirants with a bachelors degree, no percentage limitation, are eligible for the recruitment.

However unlike the national level UPSC civil services exam, here the state level civil services exam has a language limitation; candidates should be able to read, write and speak Odia. Thus, it is necessary that candidate should have either passed middle school exam with Odia as a language subject, or HSC with Odis as a medium of exam in non language subject, or Odia as a language subject in final exam of class 7th, or passed a test in Odis in middle english school standard conducted by the school and mass education department of the government of Odisha.

Odisha civil service exam 2019 will comprise of preliminary exam, main exam, personality test or interview.

To start with, prelims will be an objective test with two papers I and I. Each will be of 200 marks.

Odisha Public Service Commission has put a cap of maximum 4 attempts in the civil services exam. However there is no attempts limit for SC, ST candidates. For SEBC candidates, the limit is 7.

There is an exception. “The intending candidates who have appeared in the OCSE 2017 or OCSE 2018 but are otherwise ineligible to appear / compete in the OCSE 2019 on account of attainment of upper age limit or exhaustion of the attempts prescribed under the rules, shall be allowed one more additional compensatory attempt as a last chance for appearing in OCSE 2019. No further attempt to appear in OCS examination shall be allowed in future.”

OPSC recruitment 2019 notification contains all details of the exam including eligibility, syllabus, vacancies. However exam dates will be available later. Candidates must read the notification completely before applying.
