Maharatna PSU, NTPC Limited has published short notification for recruitment to the post of engineering executive trainee through GATE 2020. Dates to apply for the recruitment and disciplines for which the recruitment will be are now notified.
NTPC recruitment through GATE 2020 will be for four disciplines namely electrical, mechanical, electronics, and instrumentation. Online registration will be available at ntpccareers.net from January 10, 2020. And the same shall remain open until January 31, 2020.
In the given duration, interested job seekers will need to register and fill the online application form with their Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering’s registration number or ID. It may be noted that the commencement of application form submission for NTPC recruitment happens to be one week after the issuance of GATE 2020 admit cards at gate.iitd.ac.in.
Last year, there was one more discipline for which NTPC was hiring – mining. This time mining is not one of the accepted disciplines or GATE paper. The other four, electrical, mechanical, electronics, and instrumentation, were accepted last year also.
As a part of the selection process, candidates are required to first apply and appear in the GATE 2020 exam being conducted by IIT Delhi. Application form submission for the same closed six days ago. Besides applying for GATE, candidates have to fill the recruitment form for NTPC as well.
After that, the corporation shall shortlist candidates and notify the same (list). Shortlisted candidates have to then attend the rest of the processes which are anticipated to include online behavioral test or aptitude test, group discussion and personal interview.
The number of vacancies, selection process, age limit, educational qualification requirements, salary, fee, bond, will be revealed via a detailed notification with or just before releasing the online application form.
Last year there were 47 vacancies for electrical, 95 for mechanical, 50 for electronics and instrumentation, and 15 for mining. The compensation package offered was pay scale Rs 60,000 – Rs 1,80,000 at the basic pay of Rs 60,000 during one year training.
Selection process in the previous year consisted of selection on the basis of giving 85% weightage to GATE score, 5% to GD score, and 10% to interview. Also in that session the age limit, upper, was 27 years. And candidates could apply if they had at least 65% marks in their engineering degree.
A service agreement bond is also usually applicable in NTPC recruitment through GATE. General and OBC candidates need to execute the bond of Rs 2,50,000. Whereas SC, ST, and PWBD candidates have to do so for Rs 1,25,000. The bond is to serve NTPC for at least 3 years.
With regards to the online form for NTPC recruitment through GATE 2020, an application fee is expected to be levied. Last year the fee amount was Rs 150 for general and OBC, and was nil for SC, ST, PWBD.
