National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the form correction facility for the JEE Main Jan 2020 aspirants. The facility for editing details in the application form is available online at jeemain.nta.nic.in through login. Candidates are allowed to make corrections, if any required in the data, in the application form until October 20, 2019.
How to do JEE Main 2020 application form correction?
To avail the facility, candidates need to go to jeemain.nta.nic.in and click the “application form correction” button. Then login with their application number and password. After that, the details in the form can be edited. And balance fee, if any, can be paid.
It is a one-time facility provided to the candidates and henceforth after the end date, the candidates shall not be allowed to edit the details. To avail the form correction facility, candidates have to log in to their dashboard using their application number and password. Click on the “login” button to submit the details, after which in the next screen, the candidate dashboard will appear on the screen. In the candidate dashboard, edit the relevant details which you wish to edit/ modify. Now, before finally submitting the form, verify that the details are correct and proceed to submit the form.
NTA has not specified as to which details can be edited or which cannot. The same has to be seen after logging in. Those fields which appear editable, are ones where correction is allowed. Those for which candidates do not get an option are fixed, and can no longer be changed.
An important point to note is that the candidates will have to pay an additional fee, wherever applicable through credit card, or debit card or net banking or UPI or PAYTM.
How much fee to pay for form correction?
There is no additional fee for making corrections. However if the change is of a category, gender, or number of papers, then depending upon the fee applicable for the new category chosen, or gender selected, or number of papers selected, the difference in fee between that paid earlier and the new fee will be calculated. This difference will have to be paid.
At the time of submitting the details now, after making corrections in JEE Main 2020 application form, candidates will once again be asked to verify their details. There will no longer be any scope to make changes in the future.
Candidates are simultaneously also being provided with the facility to remove discrepancies in the images uploaded. A separate link to login for this has been given. It is notable though that all candidates cannot simply login and change the photograph and signature. Only where NTA has found issues in the uploaded images, for only those candidates an option to reupload images has appeared upon logging in.
After the form correction process is over, the registered candidates will be issued the admit card to appear for the test. It will be available for download from December 06, 2019 onwards. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2020 is scheduled to be held on January 06-11, 2020. The national level test is conducted twice a year in January and April.
NTA has made few changes in the exam pattern for JEE Main 2020. A new paper has been introduced in the JEE Main exam which is B.Planning. JEE Main is conducted at National level for admission to BE, B.Tech., B.Arch., and B.Planning courses offered at NITs, IIITs, and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. However, other than these institutes, various private engineering colleges also accept JEE Main score. Furthermore, JEE Main score also serves as a shortlisting criterion for JEE Advanced exam which is further conducted for entrance to IITs.
