No plan to suspend NEET UG 2021, NEET PG 2021' MoHFW Clarifies via Press Release

The Government of India has announced a decision not to suspend the National Eligibility cum Entrance Tests 2021 at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The examinations for NEET UG 2021 will be held on September 11, 2021. NEET PG 2021 examinations will be conducted on September 12, 2021.

The Union Minister of State of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Dr. Bharati Pravin Kumar has announced the news of non-suspension of the NEET UG and PG 2021 exams via press release. The examinations are going to be held abiding by all Covid 19 protocols and appropriate behavior. Some additional safety measures have also been proposed in order to safeguard the interest of the candidates.

The number of centres for the NEET PG and UG 2021 examinations has been increased this year. This has been done to avoid long travels by the candidates and to ensure social distancing. The candidates will be provided with Covid e-pass. That will enable them to travel to exam centres without any issue.

In addition to the above, the entry and exit of the candidates will be done in a staggered manner in an examination centre.  Thermal test will be done for all candidates at the point of entry. In case the body temperature is found high, the candidates will have to appear for the exams in an isolated lab created for this purpose.

During the examination, the candidates will have to wear masks mandatorily. Safety kits consisting of hand sanitizer, face shield, and a mask will also be provided to the candidates. Appropriate steps will be taken so as to avoid the congregation of people outside the examination centres.

NEET is a gateway examination to take admission in BDS, MBBS, and AYUSH courses. Based on the results of NEET, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) along with state bodies start counselling of candidates. The counselling is done for filling up 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) and 85 percent state quota seats. The decision of going ahead with the NEET examinations has been taken keeping the best interest of the candidates in mind.
