National Institute of Design (NID) opened registrations for admission 2020-21 last month, on the first day of the month. Now tomorrow, the design school will close its online application form. Students from across the nation who wish to study B.Des, M.Des, PhD in Design, GDPD from NID campuses located in Ahmedabad, AP, Haryana, MP, Assam, have less than a day to apply.
The last date to fill and submit NID 2020 application form is November 7, 2019. Tomorrow, the registration form will be deactivated at 2 pm. Until then, students can apply through admissions.nid.edu.
However it may be noted even after tomorrow, there is a one week window to apply for limited courses with a late fee. NID shall allow online application form submission with late fees for B.Des, GDPD, M.Des until November 13, 2019, 2 pm.
After November 07, 2019 the application fee chargeable would become Rs 4,000 for general, general-ews and OBC-NCL candidates, and Rs 2,000 for other categories applying for B.Des and GDPD courses. General, general-ews and OBC-NCL candidates applying for M.Des course have to pay Rs 4,000 if they are applying for 1 discipline and others have to pay Rs. 2,000. For two disciplines the fee shall become Rs 8,000 and Rs 4,000 for the general, general-ews, OBC-NCL candidates and other category candidates respectively.
To complete the application process before the last date, students have to complete all the stages of the application process. This includes registering online, filling the online application form, uploading the scanned documents, paying the application fee and taking the print of the application form.
The application form filling with late fee facility will remain open until November 13, 2019 and the candidates who are submitting the forms via offline mode of payment that is via DD can also send their printed application form with DD until November 13, 2019.
On November 13, 2019, the form correction window is also opening for all the registered candidates. This facility will remain open until November 15, 2019. During the application form correction period the candidates can not change details like information related to eligibility criteria, date of birth, category, email id, and citizenship. The form correction facility is available via the online mode only under the login of the candidates on admission.nid.edu.
National Institute of Design (NID) is located in 7 cities of the nation Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Bengaluru, Kurukshetra, Bhopal, Jorhat, and Vijayawada. The admission is based on NID’s national level entrance test known as the Design Aptitude Test (DAT). DAT is held in 2 stages – prelims and mains.
DAT 2020 prelims will be will be held on December 29, 2019 for both B.Des / GDPD and M.Des courses. The admit card for the exam will be issued only to the registered candidates on December 20, 2019. The qualified candidates of the prelims have to appear in the mains. The DAT mains exam date is April 29 to May 03, 2020 for the B.Des / GDPD course. For M.Des course, DAT mains dates are yet to be announced.
The final selection is based on 30% weightage of the prelims and 70% weightage of the mains.

Today the National Institute of Design is internationally acclaimed industrial, communication, textile and IT integrated (experiential) design. It is an autonomous institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Also, NID has been declared ‘Institution of National Importance’ by the Act of Parliament.
