National Health Mission Tripura has released the notification as well as online application form for Community Health Officer (CHO) recruitment 2019. State Health & Family Welfare Society, on behalf of NHM, hereby invites the applications for filling a total of 180 vacancies, for which the application process has started today, on December 10, 2019. Eligible candidates can submit the application form in online mode until December 20, 2019, 4:00 pm.
This recruitment is for for seats in the January 2020 batch. In the said batch, there are 29 vacancies for unreserved candidates, 9 for SC and 144 for ST.
After accepting applications, NHM Tripura will publish list of selected applicants on the website on December 24, 2019. Selected candidates will be called for a common written test which is scheduled to be held on December 28 and 29, 2019.
NHM Tripura requires that to be eligible for the post of the CHO, one must have at least one of the following: general nursing and midwifery (GNM), bachelor’s of science in nursing (BSc Nursing), master’s of Science in Nursing (MSc Nursing) and bachelor’s in AYURVEDA from a recognized or affiliated university or institution. Along with the essential qualification, 2 years of work experience is also needed in the health sector. Also, proficiency in the regional or local language is mandatory.
Moreover, the age of the candidate to stand eligible to apply for CHO should be less than 35 years as prescribed by NHM. However, the age of the SCs and STs candidates can be less than 40 years.

It must be noted that for submitting the application form, no fee is charged by the health and family welfare department, government of Tripura. NHM on the basis of the application received will select a number of applicants for the common written test, whose list shall be published on the NHM’s website on the prescribed date. The selected applicants, for the selection procedure, will then be called for the written test. And as per the notice, the minimum cut-off for making it to the merit list is 30%. The finally selected candidates will then undergo a certificate course in Tripura on community health for a period of 6 months, from January 2020.
The objective of NHM for conducting the course is to strengthen the health & wellness centers and improve public health by delivering primary health care services.
As mentioned in the recruitment notice, after the completion of the course, candidates will be posted at the sub-centres as CHO on contractual basis for a fixed period of 5 years. However, the period can be extended based on performance. CHOs will get a salary remuneration of Rs. 25,000 and also NHM has made a provision of paying a maximum performance incentive of Rs. 15,000 per month.
