National Health Mission (NHM), Maharashtra has released a notification for recruitment of Community Health Officer on a contract basis. Candidates who are willing to carry out public health functions, ambulatory care, management leadership at health and wellness centers can apply for the advertised 3965 vacancies.
Candidates with a Bachelors degree in ayurvedic medicine, bachelors in unani medicine, bachelors in nursing, and with a valid registration from Maharashtra Council of Indian Medicine / Maharashtra Nursing Council are eligible for the CHO posts.

Print the application form, fill all the details and submit the completed application form, by enclosing with one set of self-attested photocopies of the essential documents, two passport sized colored photograph and demand draft at the office of Deputy Director of Health Services (DDHS) as per the choice of district of appointment, before October 14 at 5:30 pm via post / hand / courier.

Shortlisting, entrance exam – this will be the process of selection for Certificate Programme in Community Health. First the National Health Mission will publish a list of shortlisted candidates on their website. Then those candidates will be issued admit cards for an entrance exam. The exam will be conducted as per the selected exam centers at the level of Deputy Director, Health Services. However, the date of the exam will be announced shortly in the website.
NHM CHO exam will contain 50 objective type of questions based on the syllabus recommended by Government of India which includes – basic concepts of public health, basics of human body, child health, adolescent health, maternal health, family planning, communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, nutrition and skilled based questions. Each question will be of 2 marks and there will not be any negative marking.
The result of the shortlisted candidates will be displayed district-wise on the website. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria and qualifying the entrance exam will be allotted program study centres for 6/8 months Certificate programme at hospitals in Public Health Department / Trust Hospitals / Hospitals designated by Public Health Department in state by counseling process. During the programme, they will be paid a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month.
After completion of certificate programme, candidate will have to appear for an exit exam which will be conducted by MUHS, Nashik. Candidates successfully qualifying the exit exam will only be appointed as Community Health Officer at Sub-centre through counseling process. As a CHO, they will be offered with a salary of Rs. 25,000 per month consolidated + Performance based incentive upto Rs.15,000.
