In a recently insightful interview with a prestigious daily, chairman of National Testing Agency (NTA), Dr. Vineet Joshi, provided details on aims, plans, and achievements of the Agency. Though the interview was targeted more on conduct of NTA, but NEET 2021 aspirants found few coded messages for the upcoming national level medical entrance exam.

The chairman shared that since NEET is a pen-paper-based test, candidates must be really careful when answering the questions. Unlike, computer-based tests, NEET aspirants don’t have the option to change their answers once marked. However, he also emphases that it is not necessary to make a paper difficult to make it apt. The target on NTA now is to make the exams more  application-oriented, rather than difficulty based.

During the interview, the chairman explained that the aim is to make a question paper that is at par with aspirants level of school education and could bring three-four concepts together. From this, NEET 2021 aspirants got a hint on importance of NCERT for preparation for the medical entrance exam.

Despite all, there hasn’t been any major update on the release date for NEET 2021 application form. NTA has announced exam date for NEET 2021 and it is August 01, 2021. However, apart from this, there is no other information available about the exam. So far, candidates only know that the syllabus of NEET 2021 is the same as before and NEET will be held in multiple languages. Last year, NEET was held in 11 languages, which are English, Hindi, Assamese, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Odia, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. However, this time JEE Main is being held in 13 languages. So, there is a possibility that NEET might also be held in more languages.

Usually, NEET is held in the month of May. But this year, due to COVID, even the application forms have not been released. It is now expected that forms will be available soon, in the month of April or May. Candidates will only be able to apply online, as offline applications are not accepted for NEET.

To be eligible to apply for NEET-UG 2021, students must have passed class 12 or should be appearing for the class 12 board examination. Students must have studied subjects – English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Biotechnology as main subjects in class 12th.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) is the only national level medical entrance exam in India. There were talks that the entrance exam might be held multiple time but health ministry did not approve of the idea. So, NEET shall only be will be held once a year. It will conducted to shortlist candidates for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS courses. NEET score is also used for admission in the undergraduate medical course at participating medical colleges, including AIIMS and JIPMER institutes.
