The much awaited announcement on exam date of NEET PG 2021 is here. National Board of Examinations has finally announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for PG Medical admissions will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021. This makes the exam delayed by 3 months in all, from its initially announced date of January 10, 2021. Nevertheless, even if delayed, finally there is clarity before the PG medical aspirants as to when their deciding exam date is.
It may be noted that a few days ago, Dr. Pawaninder Lal, Executive Director of National Board of Examinations, the organizing body of NEET PG, had told in a web interview that NBE is all set to hold the exam in April or May. And that they were simply waiting for a govt nod to go ahead. It is heartening to see the promise having been kept.
An additional good news carried by the exam date notification is with regards to the extension of deadline of internship. As it is known, by NEET PG aspirants, that one of the key eligibility criteria for being eligible for NEET PG is to complete medical internships. The pandemic wrought year was a disruptive factor in the internship of many – with this in mind, NBE has also extended the internship deadline. Now, those who complete their internships by 30th June 2021 can also appear in NEET PG 2021. Whereas earlier, every year until now, the deadline for internships has been 31st May of the year of exam. The extension in internship deadline is proportional to the postponement of the exam – both being of 3 months, which seems quite fair.
The initial reaction of candidates towards the exam date announcement is pretty positive. By and large there is a sigh or relief on getting clarity over the exam date – an event that the junior future doctors, i.e. NEET UG 2021 aspirants are still only hoping for (NEET 2021 exam dates announcement are heavily delayed, with several question marks on what is to come – will there be multiple exam dates? will exam be online? and more questions).
For the time being, the medical community is happy that exam dates are at least out. The next step is to re-adjust the revision strategy for this critical exam. While a handful clear the exam in its first attempt, for many it takes 2, 3, and even more attempts to crack.
With exam dates out, the next awaited event is the issuance of NEET PG 2021 registrations. It is highly likely that that too will be available soon, maybe this very month. Watch this space (aglasem.com) for all all updates on NEET PG 2021. Best of luck to all future doctors!
