The exam date for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for Postgraduate admission has been announced. The National Board of Examination (NBE) announced it on the official website, by uploading a notification. NEET PG 2018 is now scheduled to be held on January 07, 2018.
The examination will be conducted in the computer-based mode. It will only be conducted in a single session. The candidates throughout the nation shall be given a single question paper. For the upcoming exam, the Board has eliminated the equating or scaling of the marks. The negative marking of 1 mark has also been introduced. The marked to be allocated for correct answer shall be 4. Also, for not attempting a question, the marks will neither be allocated nor deducted.
The number of question and other details about the exam are yet to be announced. However, last year, the candidates were given 3 hours and 30 minutes to solve 300 multiple choice questions. The maximum number of questions were given from Surgery, ENT, Orthopedics and Anaesthesia. It was 46 in number. Exactly 37 questions were asked from Medicine Dermatology and Venereology. 25 question each were from Pathology, Social and Preventive Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Social and Preventive Medicine.
NBE has also made the requirement of Aadhaar Card mandatory for the applicants. The Board has introduced the Aadhaar requirement to make the exam process more safer. Candidates from J&K, Assam, and Meghalaya are exempted from submitting the Aadhaar Card details but they will have to submit the details of the PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence, or Voter ID Card.
The application form for NEET PG 2018 is expected to release by the end of October 2017. It will only be released online, on nbe.edu.in. To register, the candidates will have to submit the few details like Name, Gender, E-mail ID, Parent’s Name, User Name, Password, etc. Once the candidate is registered, they will be able to login and submit the details in the application form.
Paying the application fee will be mandatory. The amount of application fee is yet to be announced. It was Rs. 3750 last year, for the candidates belonging to General and OBC category and Rs. 2750 for tSC, ST, and PwD category candidates. The candidates who will be submitting the application form and the fee in prescribed format will be issued the admit card of NEET PG.
The result of the exam will be announced on January 31, 2018. It will be issued as merit list, which will contain the names of all qualified candidates. The 50% All India Quota seats will be allocated through the MCC counselling. Whereas, the remaining 50% seats will be filled through the state counselling.
