NEET 2020

Contrary to predictions, NTA has updated NEET 2020 details on the old website ntaneet.nic.in only. Today, the agency updated the website with National Eligibility cum Entrance Test details for the upcoming entrance exam.

Earlier, it was predicted that NTA will launch a new website on the url neet.nta.nic.in. The prediction was based on the fact that the agency had discontinued old websites; for example it launched jeemain.nta.nic.in for JEE Main, ugcnet.nta.nic.in for UGC NET, csirnet.nta.nic.in for CSIR NET and so on.

However now it is confirmed that the National Testing Agency will be using ntaneet.nic.in only for NEET 2020.

At the moment, a number of changes are visible on the website already. First of all, the main page has the heading NEET (UG) – 2020. The heading is followed by three paragraphs about the exam.

Introducing the fact that the agency has been given the responsibility for conducting this medical entrance exam in first para, with the purpose of the exam, second para goes on to give a brief of the exam. It says “National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2020 (NEET (UG) – 2020) will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/Dental & other Colleges in India including the Institutions established under an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.”

As can be seen, it is further verified here that admission to AIIMS as well as JIPMER will be through NEET only.

There are different links on the website, one each for notice, information bulletin, information at a glance, important points, demo if application form, contact us. The first one leads to an archive page, though it does not actually have any notification yet. The information bulletin page has a link, which opens a pdf that says “Coming Soon”. Same “coming soon” pdf is provided in the rest of the links.

However contact us page has provided an email id [email protected] And an NTA helpdesk number has been provided as 0120-6895200.

Ntaneet.nic.in is hosted by National Informatics Centre. This body is only responsible for hosting, designing the website, and not related to conduct of exam per se.

NTA will open NEET 2020 registration on December 2, 2019. Information brochure will be released on the same day. Last date to apply is December 31, 2019. The exam will be held on May 3, 2020.

The website also says “The NEET (UG) – 2020 will be conducted on Sunday, the 03 May, 2020 . The responsibility of the NTA is limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and for providing an “All India Rank Merit List” to the Directorate General Health Service, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for providing the result to States/other Counselling Authorities.”
