National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-UG has been never left away from controversy. 2019, seems a no different year. Now, SC has increased the last date to apply for NEET 2019 exam. In addition to that SC has also allowed the student more than 25 years of age to apply for NEET this year.
Until now, the upper age limit to apply for the NEET 2019 exam was 25 years. However, Supreme court is now allowing aspirants older than 25 years to appear in NEET undergraduate exam 2019 for MBBS and BDS courses. This order came today i.e. on November 29, 2018 – just when 1 day was left to apply for NEET 2019. The last date to apply for NEET 2019 was November 30, 2018.
SC has now ordered to extend this last date by 1 week. Thus, it can be expected that the last date to apply for NEET 2019 exam can be around December 07, 2018 or more. However, NTA is yet to act upon the order and announce the date of applying for NEET 2019.

Story So Far…!
Hold your horses! Let us take a look at what was is all the fiasco about NEET 2019 Upper Age limit. So, as per CBSE that was conducting NEET 2019 earlier, the upper age limit of NEET 2019 exam was fixed as 25 years for Un-Reserved and 30 years reserved categories to apply for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-UG.
This was in turn supported by The Delhi High Court had on May 11, 2018. It had held that a 17 or 18-year-old candidates will find it difficult to compete with older and more experienced candidates. Thus, this decision of keeping an upper age limit is a fair one.
However, the petitioners who are against this decision, say that this is unfair and since India needs more doctors, deletion of upper age limit is necessary. This is supported by the center and the oversight committee of MCI.
What Now?!
NEET controversies are never-ending. This just seems like taking things for granted. Supreme court’s order clearly states that the final admission would be subject to the final outcome of the case on the validity of CBSE decision to fix the upper age limit.
Now, this is again that the admission of the candidates who are above 25 years of age remains quite uncertain. If the final verdict is not in favor, who is going to refund the money, time and dedication of these candidates?
Changing the last date of the NEET 2019 application form to allow the candidates above 25 years of age to apply for NEET exam; then ordering that the final admission would be subject to the final outcome of the case on the validity of CBSE decision to fix the upper age limit, is quite contradicting in itself.
Because what now? Should a candidate who is above 25 years of age apply for NEET 2019? Won’t it be heartbreaking that in the middle they get an unfavorable verdict? Well, these are few concerns that SC might have neglected in the process of the passing the order. But however, we hope the fiascos surrounding NEET exam push everything into a common direction of producing more quality doctors in the Nation.
Caution: For the students, we would recommend not to wait for the last date to extend. As of now, only SC has ordered to extend the last date. NTA is yet to act upon this. Thus, make sure you apply for the NEET 2019 exam now, as November 30, 2018, is the earlier notified last date.

if india needs more doctors than increase the number of seats , not the age limit.
If number of doctors in India is the concern to increse the age limit, can there be more number of admissions in each college.
