No more waiting!. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released notification for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2018. A few days back, the Board confirmed that the common medical entrance exam will be held on May 06, 2018. Now, along with the notice, the application form of the exam has also been released.
Medical students can apply for NEET 2018 from cbseneet.nic.in. The application forms are available from February 08 to March 09, 2018. The deadline for payment of fee ends on March 10, 2018, at 11:55 pm. In order to fill the application form, the candidates will first have to register by submitting basic details like name, names of parents, category, DOB, Aadhaar number, gender, nationality, email ID, mobile number. Once, the details have been submitted, the candidates will get user id and password to login and fill the application form.
The amount of application fee is Rs. 1400 but the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH enjoy relaxation on fee and only need to pay Rs. 750. The amount can be remitted online, via Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI / and E-wallets of the different service provider.
Just like last year, Aadhaar Number is mandatorily required to apply for the examination. However, candidates from the state of J&K, Assam, and Meghalaya do not come under the compulsion and can apply on the basis of any valid government authorized id proof, which had the photograph. NRI and OCI candidates will have to submit Passport Number.
The air around NEET has always been ambiguous. With the release of the notice, CBSE has made clear who can apply for the examination. The most importantly, AGE Limit is applicable in NEET. The candidate should be above 17 years of age, as on December 31, 2018. The upper age bar is 25 years, but the candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC category gets relaxation of 5 years.
The state of Telangana already made it public that it shall be coming under NEET. However, the news of Andhra Pradesh joining the exam came as a pleasant surprise. The candidates from both the states are now eligible for 15% All India Quota seats.
Candidates appearing for NEET 2018 shall be given a common question paper in all the languages. In total, there will be 180 objective type questions, for which 4 answer options will be given. Out of these, only one answer choice will be correct. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours, and the exam will be held from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm.
The Board will also open Common Service Centers, also called as Facilitation Centers, across the nation. The candidates can get all the assistance from the centers, from filling up of the application form to uploading the images, etc.The list and details of the common service center will be available on the official website.
