For past few years, the status of undergraduate medical entrance examinations in India has been wrapped in chaos. However, since National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is single admission window, candidates throughout the nation look forward to it. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts NEET in pen and paper mode. The official notice for the examination is expected to be released in December but the news regarding the exam date has started making the rounds.

If a news report published today is to be believed then CBSE will hold NEET 2018 on May 07, 2018. The date has only been informed by a few news websites, which claim to quote sources. It could, however, be a typographical error only. But Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not confirmed any date yet. The Central Board will only confirm the exam date through official notice which it will upload on the official website of the exam, i.e.

Why candidates can believe this to be the actual exam date is because usually, the sources leak the dates and few crucial details before the official announcement. Not only in NEET but in a lot of examination it has been observed that the dates by sources eventually match the actual exam date.

On the contrary, the possibility of the date being an erroneous one increases because as per the past year trends, CBSE has always conducted national medical entrance exam on the first Sunday of the month. Candidates can check the exam dates for the examinations from the table below.

For the upcoming year, the first Sunday falls on May 06, 2018. Thus, there are quite high chances of NEET 2018 being held on May 6, 2018. Right now though, whatever the dates might be, the candidates need not be bothered about it. The Board will soon announce it and candidates should not let this affect the preparation of NEET. CBSE will for sure ensure that the exam date should be the most appropriate one.

The candidates who are planning to take the exam are advised to check the eligibility criteria in advance. Every year, numerous candidates get anxious over the age limit and other criteria for NEET. MCC, as well as the state counselling committees, clearly state that ineligible candidates will not be granted admission under any circumstances.

Another important point to note is the number of attempts. The candidates can only give NEET 3 times in a row but a number of clauses have been added and removed since the revival of NEET. Read all about NEET 2018 Attempts Limit here.

Candidates who are eligible will be able to apply online. The application form for NEET 2018 is expected to release by the end of December. The candidates will only have the online facility to apply online. CBSE will not accept any application send via any other medium.
