Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) took to twitter announcing that the final decision on Class 12 board exams shall be taken in the first week of June 2021. Previously, the Class 12 board exams were scheduled to begin from May 01, 2021. However, they were later postponed due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases. According to state officials, a final decision shall be taken keeping in mind the health and safety of students.

Inder Singh Parmar, Minister of School Education in Madhya Pradesh (Independent Charge) and General Administration, announced the decision about Class 12 state board exams. Of course, whatever the government decides, it will be in cognisance with the health of students, especially amid rising number of COVID-19 infections in the country.
MPBSE also released an official statement announcing that the authorities have already undertaken the required measures for the Class 12 board examination. Currently, no changes have been proposed in the examination system or method of conduction. If at all the circumstances are conducive, examination shall be conducted as per the previous pattern.
Yesterday, May 23, 2021, the education ministry conducted a high-level virtual meeting with the state education ministers and respective education secretaries. Present at the meeting were ministers like Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani. Mr. Parmar was also one of the attendees of the meeting which was convened to discuss the various alternatives available for conducting the Class 12 board exams.
During the virtual meeting, Mr. Parmar requested the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to take an appropriate decision regarding the CBSE Class 12 exams. This decision is especially, important due to the current concerning circumstances. Additionally, it was also requested to prioritise teachers between the ages of 18 to 44 while also devising a strategy for vaccinating students.
Similar to Madhya Pradesh, CBSE is all set to take a final call and announce the Class 12 board exam dates on or before June 01, 2021. Previously, students and parents were requesting the union government to cancel the Class 12 board exams amid rising coronavirus infections. However, Mr. Pokhriyal confirmed yesterday that exams will be held for CBSE Class 12 students.
Along with this, centre has provided state governments the full authority to take a call on the respective state board exams. Hence, there may be a slight chance that Madhya Pradesh may cancel the Class 12 exams. However, the situation in the country is improving and CBSE itself is conducting the board exams for Class 12 students. Hence, states are more likely to follow the centre’s decisions. While many speculations are looming in the air, only time will put them to rest.
