The entrance exam for admission to Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in Maharashtra state, the BHMCT CET 2020, will be held on May 10, 2020. This exam date has been announced by the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell.
It may be noted that all the exams conducted by the body are denoted by a CET. In the case of BHMCT, the exam name is referred to both as MAH BHMCT 2020, as well as MAH BHMCT CET 2020.
The exam will be held in online computer based test format.
This exam was held a little later last year, on May 20. With that exam date, registrations were opened on February 18 and closed on March 18. Thereafter admit card was released on May 13 and the result was declared on June 4. However the exam being sooner this time, the timeline is expected to shift up by 7-10 days.
Thus, this time, the CET Cell is expected to release the MAH BHMCT 2020 online application form in the first week of February and close the registrations in the first week of March. Thereafter hall tickets will be released in the first week of May, and the result will be declared by the end of May. However the exact schedule will be outlined in the information brochure which is expected to be published in the first week of February.
This exam leads to admissions in first year of four year full time graduate degree course in hotel management and catering technology. Two types of institutes offer admission through it, all government aided institutes offering BHMCT course, and all un-aided BHMCT institutes covered as per the act. The act refers to Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015.
Per the last year brochure, MAH BHMCT CET is supposed to be open for all Indian nationals who have passed HSC (class 12) with at least 45% in aggregate, or 40% in the case of backward category and PWD candidates who belong to Maharashtra. Those who are appearing the qualifying exam are also going to eligible for this exam.
Last year the examination fee was Rs 800 for open category candidates from Maharashtra state, outside Maharashtra state (OMS), JnK migrant candidates. The fee was Rs 600 for candidates of backward class categories like SC, ST, VJ/DT- NT(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), OBC, SBC and SEBC, and persons with disabilities belonging to Maharashtra state only.

BHMCT CET is anticipated to have questions from three broad areas. First being english language with 40 questions. Second, reasoning including verbal and arithmetic with 30 questions. And third one being general knowledge and awareness including questions on current national, international affairs, culture, trade and commerce, sports, scientific inventions and discoveries, travel and tourism having 30 questions.
