Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) is conducting the Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) 2019 exam, which is the first civil services exam in the state. KAS 2019 notification was released last month for category 186/2019, 187/2019, 188/2019. Today is the last date for filling and submitting the online application form.
Candidates who aspire to secure the position of KAS Officer (Junior Time Scale) trainee in stream 1 or 2 or 3 should apply online before 12 midnight today. Details of the recruitment and application form are available at keralapsc.gov.in.
Before applying for Kerala PSC KAS 2019, candidates need to register as per OTR, that is One Time Registration, at the thulasi portal which is accessible at thulasi.psc.kerala.gov.in.
Those who have registered either now or before, need to login using their user ID and password through the same OTR website of PSC Thulasi. As long as the deadline is not exceeded, the link to apply online for KAS will be visible within the profile, and through it, candidates can submit their candidature.
As per the notification, KAS prelims exam will be in February 2020. However the official examination programme for the month of February 2020 for submitting confirmation is available yet it does not have any exam date of the Kerala Administrative Services exam.
Depending on the final exam date decided by the Commission, candidates will be given a period of time in which they have to submit their confirmation, again through PSC Thulasi. Only those who submit their confirmation will be issued admit card. Such candidates who apply for KAS but do not give confirmation shall not get hall tickets.
The first test that KAS applicants will encounter is the phase I, prelims. Said preliminary exam will have two papers, paper I and II, each of 90 minutes. Paper I will be of general studies of 100 marks. Paper II will have two parts, part I and II. In paper II part I, there will be general studies questions of 50 marks. Paper II part II will have 30 questions on language proficiency in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and 20 marks worth of questions on language proficiency in english. Prelims shall have question papers with objective type questions.
Thereafter, Kerala PSC will shortlist candidates on the basis of their scores in prelims, for the phase II mains which will have three papers of 100 marks each, all descriptive type. Then the last stage will be phase III interview of 50 marks.
Kerala PSC KAS 2019 online application form submission had started on November 1, 2019. Vacancies under category 186/2019 will be filled through direct recruitment. For 187/2019, recruitment will be direct from among full members or approved probationers in any government departments. And 188/2019 posts will be filled through direct recruitment from among candidates holding Ist gazetted post or above in departments in the schedule-1 and equivalent posts in common categories listed in scheduled-1.
