National Testing Agency (NTA) is going to conduct the Joint Entrance Test (JEE) Mains from tomorrow, i.e September 1 to September 6, 2020. Over 7 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the national level exam, which will be held in two shifts. The first shift of JEE Main is from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon whereas, the timing for the second shift is from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Exam in both the shifts will be held in computer-based format. Candidates are required to carry their admit card to the examination hall.
There are some important changes made in the admit card. This year it is is of 4 pages and includes a declaration. Students must go through the guidelines and fill in the information wherever required. Admit card also includes the reporting time as well as the examination time.Candidates are expected to strictly abide by the given arrival time. Students are expected to show their admit card at the time of entry. The admit card contains a bar-code which will be scanned for permitting entry.
A list of SOP’s that the students and the examination centers need to follow is made available on the official portal. There will be a thorough sanitation of the examination centers and the sitting areas ahead of the exam. The candidates must also abide by the guidelines issued in the SOPs to safeguard the health and safety of all.
At the examination center, students will have to wash their hands with soap and water and use a sanitizer as well. Their temperature will be noted and the students having a temperature of 99.4 degrees will be escorted to isolation rooms. Then, their temperature will be recorded again after sometime. Students with a constant high temperature will be provided an isolated room to attempt the examination.
Candidates will also be provided with a mask at the examination centre and they have to wear the given mask instead of the one they were wearing before. At the end of the exam, students will be allowed to leave one at a time. They are expected to drop their admit cards and sheets given for rough work at the exit point. All students must abide by these guidelines to ensure that the exam is carried out in a seamless manner. At the centre, for safety reasons, students are permitted to carry their own transparent water bottle, a transparent ballpoint pen and a 50ml hand sanitizer. JEE Main is a national level examination which is held every year for students who wish to pursue B. Tech from any prestigious institutions across the country. This year, the exam was postponed twice due to the COVID19 pandemic. Despite the protests for postponement of the examination, NTA will conduct the exam in September. According to the education ministry, any further postponement will affect the academics of lakhs of students.
