National Testing Agency (NTA) will start application form correction for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2020 today, October 14, 2019. Candidates will be able to edit mistakes in their application forms by logging in at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Last date to avail the facility will be October 20, 2019.
Earlier, correction in image discrepancy was started. Now this is the facility to correct data entered in application form.
There will not be any additional fee to edit mistakes, at least there is none mentioned in any of the notices so far. However the notice on form correction dates does mention mode of paying fee.
Going by the usual norms followed in JEE form corrections, it is expected that the fee payment referred to is the excess fee due to change in certain fields. That is, if by making changes in category or gender or number of papers, the fee amount applicable for the new category or gender or number of papers is higher, then the candidate will have to pay the difference in fee.
If, on the other hand, the new fee amount will be lower, then the excess fee shall not be refunded. Mode of fee payment shall be via credit card, debit card, netbanking, and UPI.
The new dates for form correction were revealed two days ago. NTA had to postpone the form correction by three days mainly because the agency had to extend the dates to fill application form. Nevertheless the total number of days being given to edit mistakes in data of the form remain the same, as seven days.
Already the link to remove discrepancies in images is available. That is a separate facility, only for those candidates whose images – photograph and signature – in the application form have been found to be incorrect. Although all candidates can login to the link, but only those where NTA has found mistakes can find the edit option.
It may be noted that besides this one time facility being given to make changes in the application form, no further chances can be availed for the same. Therefore any and all candidates who have applied for the JEE Main Jan 2020 who feel they have made any mistakes in their form, should go ahead and edit them now.
The data in the application form will be matched time and again against the data in official documents of the candidates. For this reason candidates may refer their documents like class 10 marksheet, class 12 certificates, category certificates, and other such formal letters while filling the details in the correction window.
NTA JEE Mains January 2020 will be held from January 6 to 11, 2020. Admit card for all candidates who have applied will be available from December 6, 2019. After the Jan exam, JEE Mains 2 will be held in April. Best of the two scores between Jan and April exam will be considered for the purpose of ranking and admissions.
