JEE Main 2018 Likely to be held on April 1 and 8; Notification to Release in November

Various newspapers are citing undisclosed official sources, who have slipped out the exam date for JEE Main 2018. As per the reports, the upcoming Joint Engineering Exam (JEE) Main will be held on April 01 and 08, 2018. It is rumored that the exam date for the exam was discussed during JAB meeting for JEE Advanced 2018.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is yet to confirm the exam date. Along with the date of the examination, the Board will also release the information brochure. All the details related to the exam will be revealed then. Usually, 10 to 12 lakh candidates appear for the exam every year.

The eligibility criteria for engineering admission through JEE Main was amended last year. As per it, only those candidates will be granted admission in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs who will qualify 10+2 with more than 75% marks or will be among top 20 percentilers. Hence, the candidates who are planning to apply for JEE Main 2018 must ensure the criteria before applying

The online registration for JEE Main 2018 is expected to begin in the month of November 2018. The candidates will be able to apply online, from jeemain.nic.in. To apply the candidates will need an Aadhaar Card, E-mail ID, and Mobile Number. Apart from that, the candidates will also have to upload their passport size photograph and scanned copy of the signature on the form. The details to be entered in the application form should be authentic and updated.

JEE Main will be held in online and offline mode. The Paper 1 of the exam has to be taken by those candidates who will aim to study B.Tech or B.E. Whereas, the aspirants of B.Arch and B.Planning course will have to qualify Paper 2. The Paper 1 exam will be of 3 hours and the candidates will have to solve 90 MCQs on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks, whereas, the negative marking of 1 mark will be done for marking wrong answers.

The top 2,24,000 candidates who will qualify the examination will be called for JEE Advanced 2018. The Advanced examination is a gateway to receive admission in UG engineering courses offered by the IITs. This year, IIT Kanpur is organizing the examination and it will be held on May 20, 2018.

Until now JEE Advanced was held in pen and paper mode but this year onwards it will only be held in online mode. The candidates will have to qualify Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the exam and only then they will be allocated a merit for the admissions.
