Entrance exams conducted by JCECEB will now be held in online mode. It is a major overhaul of the exam system. Candidates preparing to appear in any of the exams held by the board must take this into account. Before appearing in any computer based test, it is important to sit for a few mock tests at least to be familiar with CBT environment.

Students of Jharkhand are well aware of JCECEB: It is the single board that looks after conduct of various entrance exams for admission to different courses in Jharkhand. Whether one wants admission in engineering or diploma or ITI, they have to appear in JCECEB exams. Currently the board organizes 9 exams and admissions, namely JEECE, JCECE LE, JCECE, PECE, ITI, DtoDECE, VtoDECE, PMECE, NECE.

The board is looking into finalizing bodies to conduct CBT and its processes. Finalization will be done by February or March. After that, the application forms for one or more exams will start in March.

A number of factors are considered by JCECEB while organizing computer based tests. Exam centres have to be such that students are spaced out apart with divisions between them, to avoid cases of cheating. Centres should have extra LAN port and such facilities that ensure smooth functioning of exam so that students do not face any technical glitches. Moreover it is suggested that JCECE mock test dry runs be held for at least two weeks before exam.

Pros and Cons of Online Exams

That JCECE is going online means a lot to aspirants. Pros, as well as cons of online exams, are many. Pros of an online exam are that it is a more secure as answers are all marked in a system and will be machine graded. Also, it saves time of having to mark answers in OMR sheet. Often students mark incorrectly in OMR sheet as they are in a hurry during exam and lose out marks.

Cons of online system are majorly two. One that student may be unfamiliar with this pattern. Other is the possibility of glitches. The first can be overcome if student appears in a lot of online mock tests. For second, exam organizers have to take several measures. Recently XAT put a lot of students in trouble with technical glitches.
