Registrations for the candidates who are aiming for the JAM 2019 exam have been started on September 05, 2018 to October 10, 2018, and the students are now able to register themselves on the JAM 2019 official website, jam.iitkgp.ac.in. Candidates had to wait for about 4 days for being able to register themselves as earlier the registration was supposed to begin on September 01, 2018. IIT Kharagpur will conduct the exam on February 10, 2019, in two sessions for the admission to the postgraduate courses such as MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD dual degree at IITs and Integrated Ph.D. at 8 zones of IIT’s and IISc.
A good news for the students is that there is no age limit to appear for the JAM 2019 exam. However, it must also be kept in mind that the students need to match the JAM 2019 eligibility criteria. The students need to have at least 55% marks in aggregate or 5.5 out of 10 in CGPA or CPI in case of general category and 50% marks in aggregate or 5 out of 10 in CGPA/CPI without rounding off.

To apply for JAM 2019, the students first have to go to the official website jam.iitkgp.ac.in and provide the asked details such as your name, Email ID, Mobile Number and Password. After clicking submit, you will be able to log in through the designated window (see image below) and proceed with filling the Application form.
After logging in, the students have to provide the relevant details such as the Exam Details, the personal details of the candidate’s Communication details and Academic details.
After this step, candidates have to upload their Photograph with a light or white background of the size 3.5 Cm x 4.5 Cm being maximum 480 x 640 pixels and minimum 240 x 320 pixels in size exceeding not more than 200 KB. Signatures are also to be uploaded of the size 2 Cm x 7 cm in JPEG format of maximum 160 x 560 pixels and minimum 80 x 280 pixels having a file size not exceeding 100 KB.
The last step of the application process is to pay the registration fee by online mode. The application fee for the General category candidates and OBC candidates is Rs 1500/- while the application fee for girls and SC/ST/PWD category candidates is Rs 750/-.
It is important to fill the registration form correctly, however, in case of mistakes, students will be able to do the corrections in the application form but only in the category, Gender and in case they want to add a paper. Candidates will have to pay an additional amount to make changes in the registration form which has to be paid via demand draft to the Chairperson, IIT Kharagpur before October 30, 2018
The JAM 2019 Admit card will be available on January 04, 2019 ad the direct link to appear for the Mock Test will be available on January 10, 2019. The exam is going to be conducted in 2 sessions, viz Session 1 – 09:00 AM – 12:00 PM for Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH) and session 2 from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM for Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematical Sciences (MS). Candidates can apply for either 1 or 2 papers.
The JAM 2019 syllabus includes subjects such as Biological Sciences, Mathematical Statistics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, and Mathematics. The exam pattern consists of 3 sections – A, B and C. Section A includes 30 MCQ type questions of 1 mark each and 20 questions of 2 marks each. Section B contains 10 MCQ’s of 2 marks each and Section C contains 20 Numerical Answer type questions. Out of these questions, 10 questions will carry one mark each and rest of the 10 questions will carry 2 marks each.
