Indian Insitute of Management (IIM) Nagpur implements the 10% quota for EWS category. With the introduction of reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in higher education, many IIMs including IIM-N have started to apply the new policy. The total intake at IIM Nagpur for admission 2019 has been increased to 130 from 120. Though, a total of only fours students will be admitted under the new reservation policy.

seat structure at IIM Nagpur

IIM Nagpur started its first batch in the year 2015 with 60 students. Further, the seats increased by 100% for the 2018 batch. Now with the total intake of 130 seats, 60 seats are there for open category. 36, 20, 10, and 4 for NC-OBC, SC, ST, and EWS respectively. IIM Nagpur from this year will not able to implement the new quota completely due to infrastructure constraints. However, IIM Nagpur director, LS Murthy, assures to do the same from the next year.

Eligibility to Apply for IIM Nagpur EWs Category

Candidates who fall under OBC, SC, ST category or having a family annual income above Rs 8 LPA are not eligible for this quota. The source of income consists of agriculture, business, profession, salary and so on. There are other different classifications under which a candidate is not eligible for EWS. It includes ” 5 acres of agricultural land and above”, “Residential flat of thousand sq. ft. and above” etc.

How to Apply for EWs Category?

Candidates who are eligible for EWS category can apply at “admission.iimnagpur.ac.in/ews-file.php“. The last date to submit the documents is 24 May until 5 PM. To apply for it, submit the income and asset certificate in the specified format before the deadline. Moreover, candidates will able to submit the documents only when they confirm their category at the link sent to the candidates at their official email-id. If a candidate registers as EWS and fails to submit the documents, then the candidature of a student will be canceled.

When the IIM Nagpur Personal Interview or Written Ability Test is over, the cut-off and waitlist for all the categories will be prepared. In case an EWS student has the cut-off higher than the General category then he / she will be considered under General category only.
