The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has notified changes in the eligibility criteria for MBA admission 2018. The online registration has already been started and the eligible candidates will be able to register themselves for the management entrance examination until September 15, 2017.
As per the released notification, the candidates who have secured 50% aggregate marks in the Bachelor’s Degree will only be able to apply for the IIFT MBA entrance examination. However, candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC/ST/PWD) candidates should have obtained minimum 45% aggregate marks in their graduation.
The institution has also changed the entrance examination date from November 26 to December 3, 2017. This decision has been taken up to avoid the clash with CAT 2017 entrance examination as it is scheduled to be held on November 26, 2017.
The change in the eligibility criteria of IIFT MBA entrance examination is a major loss for the candidates who have scored less than 50% in their graduation. The candidates with poor academic records will not be considered eligible to take admission in 2018-20 MBA session of the Institute.
However, the move is suggestive of an improved quality of evaluation process. In addition, the excessive number of candidates who were allowed on the basis of possessing three years Bachelor’s degree would now be cut down to only those who have obtained the graduation degree but with a minimum academic qualification as already mentioned above.
As per the newspapers or popular journals, the reason to change the eligibility criteria is to raise the standard of admission. As the other popular B-Schools such as SNAP, NMAT, AICTE- CMAT and even CAT have always had 50% aggregate marks in graduation as minimum eligibility criteria for the applicants. This means that students who had obtained earlier less than 50% marks could look up to IIFT Institute for admission in MBA. But from now the option has been closed for Indian Institute of Foreign Trade with the official announcement made on the website.
Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Graduation can also apply, provided they submit the proof of requisite qualification by October 8, 2018. There is no age limit to apply for the IIFT MBA entrance examination. The eligible candidates who will successfully register themselves on the official website will be able to download the admit card for the examination on November 15, 2017. To take admission in the MBA programme, candidates must clear all the three stages of the examination as prescribed by the Institute
The admission of the candidate will be done on the basis of Written Test, Group Discussion, Interview and Writing Skill Assessment. Therefore, the candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks in all the stages to secure a seat in the MBA programme of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).What do you think?
