IGNOU post basic B.Sc nursing January 2020 admissions are now open. For the same, application form, student handbook and prospectus are available. Interested, eligible candidates can now apply at ignou.ac.in.
Registration for IGNOU post basic nursing admission is completely online. This includes registration, filling details in the online form, and uploading documents. B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic) or BScN(PB) is a three-year duration programme. The course fee at IGNOU is Rs 54,000. There are a total of 650 seats in IGNOU for the programme.
In the first year, students are taught nursing foundation, applied sciences, maternal nursing, behavioral sciences, communicative english. Then in year 2, they learn about medical surgical nursing, paediatric nursing, mental health nursing. Third year subjects are community health nursing, nursing administration, nursing education and research.
The program aims at providing an opportunity to in-service nurses to upgrade their skill sets and knowledge to stay at par with the ever changing needs of healthcare.
Introducing, OPENNET
Admission to Post Basic B.Sc Nursing in IGNOU is on the basis of entrance test OPENNET. The IGNOU OPENNET VIII 2019 for Jan 2020 admissions is announced. Ranking in the entrance exam is on the basis of merit, experience, GNM marks, date of birth and caste category.
IGNOU OPENNET will consist of 120 multiple choice questions of one mark each. These questions will be on the different subjects taught in GNM. There will be eight sections in the exam – A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H. Duration of the exam will be 2.5 hours.
How to get admission in B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic) after class 10th or 12th?
After class 10th or class 12th, female students can go for 3-years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). Upon registration as an in-service nurse, that is when she is registered with the Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RNRM), she needs to work in the field.
Students who enter diploma programme after 10th, need a 3 years experience, whereas those who did after 12th, need 2 years of experience.
In both the cases, male students, without midwifery in GNM programme, can go for certificate in any nursing course that are of 6 to 9 months duration.
There is no age limit for admission to the programme. Exam date, and last date to apply, are as per the advertisement.
