Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) today, December 10, 2021, conducted the ICSE Class 10 Semester I exam for Second Languages and Modern Foreign languages. Students were given an hour and a half, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm to attempt and complete the entire paper. Unlike how language papers are usually conducted, in a subjective or theoretical fashion, today’s paper was entirely objective in nature. Moreover, the exam was held in a pen-and-paper fashion meaning, that students had to identify the right option and mark the same in their paper.
Class 10 students had to opt for the paper from the second languages list. These languages include Ao-Naga, Assamese, Bengali, Dzongkha, Garo, Gujarati, Kannada, Khasi, Lepcha, Mizo, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Tangkhul, Telugu, and Urdu.
The second languages usually comprise options from the regional and local languages. However, CISCE has also provided foreign language options to its Class 10 students. These include Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Modern Armenian, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Tibetan. Exam for all these papers was also conducted today.
Paper Analysis
Coming to the analysis part, students who had thoroughly studied the notes given in class, solved exercises from the textbook as well as the sample papers provided by CISCE, would have easily completed the entire paper. Regional and foreign languages are all about understanding the rules of grammar and studying the chapters carefully. Both these aspects can help students to easily score in today’s paper. In simple terms, the paper was moderate in terms of the level of difficulty. However, students could score full marks if they had sincerely studied the Semester 1 syllabus.
Now that the ICSE Class 10 Second Languages, Modern Foreign Languages’ exam is done, students are ardently waiting for the answer key and analysis to release. They will be released soon online, either in PDF format or as video solutions. To get the answer key as soon as possible, students need to search the same for their individual languages. While regional language videos will be easily available, students may find it difficult to get answers for foreign languages.
If the difficulty persists, students can wait for a day or two for educators to upload answer keys for today’s language examination. Till that time, students can prepare for the exam scheduled for Monday, December 13, 2021. As per the official date sheet uploaded by CISCE, the next paper is scheduled in 3 days’ time for Chemistry – Science Paper 2 subject.
