Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has published a notification regarding the change introduced in the CA IPCC and Final May 2019 exam. As per the notice, for CA IPCC and Final exam, there will be Multiple Choice Questions(MCQs) to the tune of 30 percent marks.
The MCQ questions have been added to CA IPCC (New) for Paper 2 (Corporate and Other laws), Paper 4 (Taxation), Paper 6 (Auditing and Assurance) and Paper 7 (Enterprise Information systems and strategic management). Furthermore, for CA IPCC (Old), MCQs have been added to Paper 2 (Business Laws, Ethics and communication), Paper 4 (Taxation), Paper 6 (Auditing and Assurance) and Paper 7 (Enterprise Information systems and strategic management).
For CA Final (New) May 2019 exam and onwards, the MCQ questions have been added to for Paper 3 (Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics), Paper 4 (Corporate and Economic Laws), Paper 7 (Direct Tax laws and International Taxation), and Paper 8 (Indirect Tax Laws). For CA FInal (Old) May 2019 exam, the change is introduced to the following papers – Paper 3 (Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics), Paper 4 (Corporate and Economic Laws), Paper 6 (Information Systems Control and Audit.), Paper 7 (Direct Tax Laws), Paper 8 (Indirect Tax Laws).
The question paper for the above will be divided into two parts, Part I comprising MCQs to the tune of 30 marks (each carrying 1 to 2 marks) and Part II comprising descriptive type questions to the tune of 70 marks.
Candidates have to write their answers in respect of Part I of the paper in the OMR answer sheet by darkening the circles. Whereas, for Part II of the paper, the candidates need to write the answer in the descriptive type answer book in the normal course. The student will have to hand-over both OMR answer sheet and descriptive type answer book to the exam invigilator at the end of the exam.
As per the official notice, the MCQ booklet will have multiple sets, i.e. A, B, C and D. Candidates have to answer all MCQs. The questions may be either knowledge-based or application based. The skill level would be either “knowledge and comprehension” or “application and analysis”. One of the most crucial point to note is that there will be no negative marking for an incorrect answer.
On the OMR Answer Sheet, a candidate has to darken the circle by HB pencil. In case, if they wish to change an answer in the OMR sheet, they may do so by erasing it. Hence, it is important that a candidate must carry HB pencils and eraser of their own as it will not be provided to the candidate at the test center.
