Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has published the recruitment notice in respect to the hiring of operation technician and boiler technician. The online application form for the recruitment is open for filling of 72 vacancies till December 21, 2019. Out of the total vacancies, HPCL is recruiting for 66 vacancies of the operations technician and 6 vacancies for the boiler technician.
There are reservation of seats for the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Economically Weaker Section of society (EWS) and Other Backward Classes OBC). Vacancies wise, for the unreserved category there are 31 seats, 6 for EWS, 6 for SC, 6 for ST, for OBC and there are also 11 vacancies as a backlog for STs and OBCs.
HPCL requires that to be eligible for operation technician and boiler technician, one must have a degree and have passed the qualifying examination in the relevant disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks in qualifying degree or diploma. However, 10% of marks are relaxed for the SC, ST and PwD candidates.
Moreover, as per the recruitment guidelines candidates having a degree in engineering, AIME etc are not eligible to apply for the HPCL recruitment.
Along with the educational qualification, one must also adhere to the age bar set by the corporation. The minimum age limit of the candidate should be 18 years and maximum to be 25 years of age. The cut-off date to evaluate is November 1, 2019. HPCL has provided age relaxation of 5 years to the SC and ST candidates, 3 for the OBC-NC candidates and 10 years to the PWD category candidates.

Eligible candidates fulfiling all the specified criteria can apply online at hindustanpetroleum.com. Select the “current openings” tab on the home page. Under the tab select the “Visakh Refinery Non Management” link. One can find the apply online link soon after this. The last date of receipt of the form is December 21, 2019.
Against the filing of the form, HPCL charges a fee of Rs. 590 which can be paid online. As per the criteria set, SC, ST and PwD candidates are exempted from paying the fee.
Candidates adhering to all the eligibility criteria will then be called for a written test as part of a selection procedure. The test will comprise of general aptitude and technical professional knowledge and is likely to be conducted at 5 centers mainly Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam, Kolkata, Chennai & Delhi.
Those clearing the written test will be called for the next round of the selection i,e the skill test. According to the HPCL recruitment guidelines, it will only of qualifying nature and those who will qualify it will be called for a pre-employment medical examination.
The selected candidates will be paid a remuneration of Rs. 40,000 per month by the HPCL and will put on a probation period of 9 months. The confirmation of service will be done after the successful completion of the period depending upon the verification of the documents.
