Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has published the notification for the upcoming State Eligibility Test (SET). HP SET 2020 notification is available now as advertisement 21/2019, and so it is online application form. Aspiring lecturers can apply for the state level eligibility test, that is held to determine eligibility for assistant professor post, at hppsc.hp.gov.in. The last date to apply online is December 30, 2019, 11:59 pm.
HPPSC will conduct the HP State Eligibility Test to issue SET certificate to candidates eligible to compete for assistant professor posts in universities and colleges located within the state of Himachal Pradesh. The SET will be conducted for 22 subjects viz chemical sciences, english, life sciences, commerce, economics, geography, hindi, history, mathematical sciences, music, physical sciences, physical education, sociology, sanskrit, political science, public administration, computer science and applications, tourism administration and management, mass communication and journalism, philosophy, psychology and education.
Candidates having a master’s degree with 55% marks in the field of humanities, social sciences, computer science and applications are eligible to apply for the HP SET 2020. Moreover, for the HP domiciled SC, ST, PwD and OBC candidates the minimum marks in the master’s degree is 50%. Also, those who are in the final year of the postgraduation program or whose result is still awaited, such candidates can also apply for the recruitment.
As per the guidelines laid down under the recruitment notice that those candidates whose subject is not listed in the SET subjects then they must have appeared in the UGC NET or UGC CSIR NET examination.

Application form for the HPPSC eligibility test for assistant professor are available online at hppsc.hp.gov.in, under the apply online tab on the main page. Upon clicking the link, one can access the “online application registration” link to register online. Candidates have to register themselves using a name, password, category, date of birth, email id and a security question.
HPPSC charges an application fee of Rs 700 against the submission of application form from general category candidates. For other backward class (non-creamy layer of HP) the payable fee is Rs 350 and the same for the HP domiciled SC, ST, BPL, PWD and EWS is Rs 150.
It must be noted that HPPSC in its notice has mentioned that the benefits of the reservation shall only be made available for the residents of Himachal Pradesh only. Reserved category candidates of other States shall be treated as general category candidates and will have to pay the full fee as applicable.
The fee can only be paid through debit card, credit card and net banking and no other medium of paying the fee are not acceptable.
The test will consist of two papers, both having the objective type of questions. Papers will be held in 2 separate shifts or sessions as the first session and second session. Paper one in session 1 will be of 100 marks having 50 questions to be completed in 1 hour. Similarly, paper e in the second session of 200 marks having 100 questions for a time duration of 2 hours.
Selection of the candidates will be done on the marks secured by the candidates in the exam. For the unreserved category candidates, the minimum cut-off marks are 40% in aggregate and for the reserved category candidates, the same is 35%. Those who will qualify the cut-off will be declared qualified for the assistant professor post.
