Nation’s two biggest School Education Board, CBSE and CISCE, are distributing the class 10th and 12th marks sheet through DigiLocker. According to the process used earlier, the Boards used to hand over the documents to the affiliated schools and then it was issued to the students. However, living in the age of Digital India, the initiative of DigiLocker is a right move in all the sense.

Everything that you need to know about DigiLocker can be accessed from here. Let us start with the most obvious question:

What exactly is DigiLocker?

To explain it in the simplest form, It is a Digital Locker. It is a cloud-based platform, which can be used for the following purposes:

  • Issuance of Documents
  • Verification of Documents
  • Download of Documents

Purpose of DigiLocker – The aim to create DigiLocker is to minimise the use of paper and make the issuance and availability of documents easy.

Usage – The common idea is that DigiLocker is only used for issuance of school certificates. However, this is not true. The organisations which are connected with the DigiLocker can easily issue documents to the people. It included issuance of Driving License, Voter ID Card, School Certificates, etc.

How does it work?

First of all, you are required to sign up for DigiLocker. The locker will be linked to your UIDAI Aadhaar Number and the citizens will get their own cloud storage account for accessing the documents. The image below explained the process very well.

How to Make DigiLocker Account?

It is very easy to create DigiLocker account. A person just need to follow the step below:

Step 1– Click here to Sign Up for DigiLocker. The link will lead to the window below:

Step 2– Enter your Mobile Number. An OTP will be sent to you in return, it has to be inserted in the provided space and then access the ‘Verify’ button.

Step 3– The candidates now have to set a Username and Password for their account. The username can be any, which you can remember.

However, it should be noted that the password cannot contain the username.

Step 4– Lastly, you need to submit your Aadhaar Number and verify it either through phone number or fingerprint option.

Benefits of DigiLockre

  • With the help of it, the documents and certificates will be available anywhere, anytime.
  • Through it, the validation of the documents will become easy.
  • It will also reduce the work of Government in terms of entry keeping.
  • Now, the documents can be self-uploaded and digitally signed.

Students, who do not have DigiLocker account may create one by following the process above. However, those who possess an account already will be able to download their class 10 and 12 marks sheet by login. To login, the students will have to enter Username and Password or Aadhaar Number. The eSigned documents will hold the same weightage as the document on paper.

Basically, every citizen of India can use the DigiLocker for safekeeping and all time accessing of the documents. As per the government data, until now 7298235 users have registered, 8319845 documents have been uploaded on the locker, and the issuance of documents has raised upto 1738465439.
