India Post (Govt of India, Department of Posts) is inviting applications for Gramin Dak Sevak recruitment 2019 from eligible and interested job seekers. Notifications have been published separately for Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, and Punjab postal circles.
The number of vacancies are 919 in Assam, 1063 in Bihar, 2510 in Gujarat, 2637 in Karnataka, 2086 in Kerala, 851 in Punjab. Application form for all the postal circles, for GDS recruitment 2019 cycle II, is available at appost.in/gdsonline and shall remain so until last date that is September 4, 2019.
For GDS recruitment, applicant must be class 10th pass, and have the certificate of the same with passing marks in Mathematics and English. It is also compulsory to have knowledge of local language. Assamese is the local language for Assam except Barak valley districts (there it is Bengali), and Bodoland territorial council (there it is Bodo). That for Bihar is Hindi, for Gujarat it is Gujarati, Kanada for Karnataka, Malayalam for Kerala. In Punjab, the local language is Punjabi. In addition, candidates must have knowledge of cycling. Those who know how to ride a scooter or motor cycle can also apply.
The application fee is Rs 100 for male candidates of OC, OBC, EWS categories for each set of five options. Fee payment needs to be done either online or from Head Post Office or other identified post offices in India given on official website.
The first step towards applying is to go to online form and enter name, father’s name, mobile number, DOB, gender, community, PH, class 10 passing state, class 10 passing board, year of passing class 10, class 10 certificate number or roll number. Upon submitting these details, registration number is generated. Thereafter, one has to upload documents such as SSC marks memo or certificate, DOB proof if that is not in SSC certificate, memo 1 for candidate not qualified in single attempt, additional SSC marks memo 2 for candidate not qualified in single attempt having more than two marks memo, computer certificate, community certificate, photograph, signature, and certificate of disability.
Gramin Dak Sevak, or Dak Sevaks perform various duties such as sale of stamps and stationery, conveyance and delivery of mail, other duties that Postmaster or Sub Postmaster including IPPB may assign in the Departmental Post Offices/RMS. Work performed for IPPB will is not included in time related continuity allowance (TRCA) since that is on incentive basis. Minimum TRCA for 4 hours or level 1 in TRCA slab is Rs 12000 for branch post master (BPM) and Rs 10000 for assistant branch post master (ABPM), Dak Sevaks.
Furnishing of Security – The candidates shall furnish an undertaking in the application itself that he/ she has other sources of income besides the allowances to be paid by the Government for adequate means of livelihood for himself or their family. They have to furnish security in such manner as may be prescribed from time to time. The existing security amount are Rs 25000 and Rs 10000 as per post.
