The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute has released the notification for recruitment to teaching and non-teaching posts. GCRI is inviting application in an offline mode against a total of 128 vacancies from eligible candidates until December 12, 2019.
For the teaching post, vacancies have arisen in 7 departments for the posts of professor, associate professor and assistant professor. Department wise vacancies for the posts are, 4 seats in the pathology department, 6 in surgical oncology, 4 in gynecology, 4 in radiotherapy, 4 in medical oncology, 3 in radiology and the same for palliative medicine are 2.
For the non-teaching posts, there are a total of 101 vacancies for the posts of medical physicist, medical physicist cum RSO, nursing incharge, medical officer, casualty medical officer, nursing staff, store keeper, head clerk, senior clerk, junior clerk, laboratory technician, X-ray technician, radiotherapy technician, radiology technician, sanitary inspector, social worker and hospital arogya mitra.
Under the non-teaching posts, there are reservation for the Other Backwards Class (OBC), Scheduled caste (SC) and Economically weaker Section of society (EWS). In total there are 19 seats for the OBC, 8 for ST, 2 for SC, 7 for EWS and rest 65 are for the unreserved category.
The educational qualification and teaching experience needed for being eligible to apply for the teaching position under the Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute are as per the Medical Council of India and Health and Family Welfare Department Government of Gujarat recruitment rules. Along with this, the applicants should have a basic knowledge of the computer application as mentioned in the recruitment notice released.
As far as the age of job seekers is concerned, GCRI has prescribed that candidates upto 45 years can apply for the professor post and the maximum age limit set for the post of associate professor and an assistant professor is 43 years. However, on contractual basis, the age limit is upto 62 years for all the post.
GCRI requirement of the minimum educational qualification varies for each post. Candidates either need a bachelor’s or master’s degree with certain years of experience. One can check the detailed advertisement published before applying.

As per the recruitment guidelines fill the form thoroughly and paste and a recent passport size photograph in the space provided. GCRI says that the dully filled form along with the relevant documents can be submitted in-person or via post or courier to “ The Director, The Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute, Civil Hospital Campus, Asarwa, Ahmedabad – 380016”. The last date of receipt of the application form is December 12, 2019.
For the selection procedure, GCRI will conduct the interview for the candidates and as per the rules candidates with less teaching experience will not be considered for the interviews. GCRI asks the candidates to bring the original certificates and photocopies of all the educational certificate, experience certificate, identity card, NOC if applicable and detailed bio-data. The selection list will remain valid for one year or until another advertisement is published.
