Gauhati High Court has 10 new vacancies in the post of law clerk in the principal seat of court. Notification for Gauhati High Court Law Clerk recruitment 2019 has now been published inviting candidates to apply for this position to be filled through direct recruitment. The recruitment notice has been made public on the official website, ghconline.gov.in. Eligible candidates can apply online.
GHC is accepting applications until December 24, 2019. However, the last date to pay fee through challan is December 27, 2019.
High Court of Gauhati requires that to be eligible for the post of law clerk, a candidate must be a graduate or a postgraduate in law or directorate in law from a recognized university in India. According to the recruitment guidelines, candidates practising at the council of bar or having professional experience shall be given preference.
As far as the age is concerned, the age limit prescribed by the court is different for different categories of candidates. The minimum age for all category is same which is 18 years. However, the upper age limit for the unreserved category is 38 years, for OBC/MOBC 41 years, SC & ST 43 years and the same for the PWD category candidate is 48 years.

GHC recruitment 2019 application form is available online on the website, ghconline.gov.in, where interested candidates can click “application for temporary engagement”, then click on new registration button. Do the registration and submit the online application form thereafter.
The application fee has to be paid through challan. Candidates have to print the receipt of the challan after submitting the form. The challan and the fee has to be paid at any branch of SBI before the last date.
The selection procedure of the Gauhati High Court will consist of a two stage selection procedure. Stage 1 will be written examination consisting of an objective type of questions. The paper will carry 120 questions needed to be completed in 2 hours. The questions will be from the sections viz, english proficiency (30 marks), general knowledge (10 marks), general aptitude (10 marks), knowledge in law (50 marks) and knowledge of assamese language (20 marks).
Stage 2 of the selection procedure will be an interview or viva of 30 marks. However, candidates will be called for stage 2 only when they have cleared the stage 1 i.e a written examination.
As per the selection criteria, assamese language section will be of qualifying nature and exam takers have to secure 8 marks to be considered qualify in the written examination. Furthermore, one has to secure a minimum of 60% of marks i.e 18 marks to qualify the interview round.
The final selection of the candidates is based on the total marks secured in the written examination and interview. And for the tie-breaking cases, GHC will consider those candidates who are having more marks in the written examination. However, this case also fails then the age of the candidate is given preference. Candidate higher in seniority will be considered. The selected candidates would be engaged for a period of 1 year on a salary of 20,000 per month.
