IIT Delhi will close the GATE 2021 registration with normal fees in two days i.e. on September 30, 2020. Candidates must not wait for the last minute to submit their application forms as sometimes due to server response, submission and fee payment may be delayed. As soon as the window for regular registration will end, the window for extended period will begin.
From October 1 to 7, 2020, IITD will allow candidates to apply for the GATE 2021 exam with a late fee. The additional amount to be paid as late fee is Rs 500.
The 4 major organizations that have already published their notifications for recruitment through GATE 2021 are DRDO, GAIL, CIL, and NMDC. It is a well known fact that a large percentage of candidates who appear in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering do so with the purpose of landing jobs in PSUs.
Defence R&D Organization (DRDO) recently published a notification at rac.gov.in. Through it they announced their intention of hiring candidates for the post of Scientist B on the basis of the upcoming GATE exam. The relevant part of the notification reads, “Be it known to the candidates desirous of recruitment to the post of Scientist ‘B’ in the Defence Research & Development Organisation that the organisation would be notifying vacancies of Scientist ‘B’ in the year 2021, depending upon the requirement.” It further states “Recruitment for vacancies in the subject/disciplines for which GATE is conducted will be based on valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score and/or written test/interview. Only those candidates who possess valid GATE score on the crucial date of eligibility will be considered for shortlisting for written test/interview”.
GAIL India Limited has published a more detailed notification. The Maharatna PSU intends to recruit executive trainee chemical, and executive trainee instrumentation through GATE 2021. Engineering degree holders in chemical, petrochemical, chemical technology, petrochemical technology, instrumentation, instrumentation & control, electronics & instrumentation, electrical & instrumentation, electronics, electrical & electronics with 65% marks will be eligible. Registration for recruitment will be available at gailonline.com from February 15, 2021.
Coal India Limited, another Maharatna PSU has also notified that it will recruit through the national level exam. Positions will be for management trainee. Detailed notification for the recruitment will be made available at coalindia.com and the website of National Career Service Portal of Ministry of Labour and Employment.
NMDC Ltd is a Navratna PSU. In its employment notification no. 03.2020 it informs that executive trainee recruitment 2021 will be through GATE 2021. Candidates will have to apply with their exam’s registration number to nmdc.co.in/careers. Form will be available in January / February 2021.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 is scheduled for February 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14, 2021. This time two new papers by the names of ES (Environmental Science and Engineering), and XH (Humanities and Social Sciences) in Economics / English / Linguistics / Philosophy / Psychology / Sociology have been added, bringing the total number of papers to 27. Last time 8.6 lakh candidates had applied for the exam.
