IIT Bombay has opened the GATE 2021 correction window as promised today, on October 28, 2020. Candidates who had submitted their registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering can now edit the exam center, category, gender, and paper in their form. Last date to make corrections is November 13, 2020.
In order to make corrections in the form, candidates need to go to the official website of GATE 2021 gate.iitb.ac.in, and click on the link of GATE Online Application Processing System, or directly go to GOAPS login at appsgate.iitb.ac.in.
Now, they need to login with email id or username and password. Upon logging in, candidates can see the option “change personal data and exam city”. If they click this link, the editable form opens up. There, they can make the relevant changes.
Once the changes are made, candidates have to pay the relevant fee.
No fee needs to be paid if only exam cities are changed.
However, a fee of Rs 500 applies if the candidate has done any of the following
- Changed existing paper
- Changed gender to female
- Changed category to SC or ST
- Changed category from non PWD to PWD
The fee is Rs 500 + 750 in the following cases
- Changed gender from female to any other gender
- Changed category from SC or ST to any other
- Changed PWD status from PWD to non PWD
The fee will be Rs 500 plus suitable amount per paper for candidate’s category if they add a second paper.
Fees applicable to changes in form are not subject to refund.
The GATE 2021 exam is insofar scheduled to be held in 30 cities under zone 1 IISC Bangalore, 34 cities under zone 2 IIT Bombay, 20 cities under zone 3 IIT Delhi. Then 21 cities under zone 4 IIT Guwahati, 12 cities in zone 5 IIT Kanpur, 26 cities in zone 6 IIT Kharagpur. 40 cities in zone 7 IIT Madras, and 23 cities in zone 8 IIT Roorkee.
Besides, 6 international cities are also earmarked, provided travel and infrastructural issues normalize by November.
The GATE 2021 correction window is a one time facility. Based on the details entered in form, candidates will be issued admit cards on January 8, 2021. The same needs to be carried to exam centers on the exam dates February 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14, 2021.
