GATE 2020: Registration form fee

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has notified regarding increased application fee for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020. They have published a new notice at the official website gate.iitd.ac.in to remind candidates that the application fee will be higher in the extended period. Extended period refers to a limited number of days after the last date for GATE 2020 registration.

The last date to register for GATE 2020, with normal fee amount is September 24, 2019. Candidates can apply after that also for one week from September 25, 2019, to October 1, 2019; this is the extended period. To register for the exam, candidates need to visit GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) at appsgate.iitd.ac.in.

Therefore there are two last dates to apply. One is September 24, 2019, which is the last date to register for GATE 2020 with normal fee. The second is October 1, 2019, after which no more registrations will be accepted.

The application fee will be Rs 500 more for candidates applying for exam centers in India. And it will be USD 20 more for candidates applying for centers outside India.

From the first date of registration that is September 3, 2019, to the last date, the application fee is Rs 750 for SC, ST, PWD, female candidates, and Rs 1500 for all others. It is USD 50 for Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka, Kathmandu exam centers, and USD 100 for Dubai, Singapore.

Whereas in the extended period, the application fee will be Rs 1250 for SC, ST, PWD, female candidates. It will Rs 2000 for others applying for centers in India. Then it will be USD 70 for Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka, Kathmandu centers, and USD 120 for Dubai, Singapore centers.

During GATE 2020 registration, candidates need to verify their email and mobile number using OTP. IIT Delhi says that if there is a delay in getting OTP, then candidates can proceed to fill the form by verifying any one. However they will have to verify both at some time.

Another important thing that IIT Delhi has clarified is what does Application status: Under scrutiny mean? The institute says that candidates need to worry about this status. This only means that the scrutiny team will go through your application. If there is any need to edit photo, signature, supporting document, then you will automatically get an email and sms. Scrutiny will continue even after the last date for registration.

GATE 2020 application form correction details about gender, category, exam paper, exam city, name will be announced. Candidates should check gate.iitd.ac.in and GOAPS portal appsgate.iitd.ac.in regularly for the same.

If candidate has made multiple payments then only the successful one will be considered for GATE 2020 form. Candidates will get refund in same account automatically for unsuccessful payments.

GATE 2020 will be held on February 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2020. Admit cards will be released on January 3, 2020. After form filling is over, the last date for requesting change of exam centers is November 15, 2019. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is the national level exam for ME, M.Tech, M.Arch and other post graduate courses admissions in IITs, IISc, and several other colleges and universities in India. GATE scores are also used for recruitment in PSUs.
