GATE 2020: Last date to apply without late fee today, Site not working, Server down

Today, is the last date to submit Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering (GATE) 2020 application form with normal fee. From tomorrow, September 25 to October 01, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, will charge late fee of Rs. 500 extra for registration for Indian centres and USD 20 extra for outside centers. GATE 2020 is scheduled to be held on February 01, 02, 08, 09, 2020. To appear for the exam, candidates must apply. However, on the last day of registration, the GATE Online Application Process System (GOAPS) site is not working.

On accessing the GATE login at appsgate.iitd.ac.in the page is showing this error message, “This site can’t be reached -appsgate.iitd.ac.in’s server IP address could not be found. Try: Checking the proxy, firewall, and DNS configuration”. This is a server error. The usual culprit behind it is heavy traffic on the website.

IIT-Delhi is expected to resolve the issue soon and then candidates will be able to apply again. However candidates are worried that if the server remains down for too long, they will have to apply from tomorrow with late fee.

To fill the application form of GATE 2020, candidates need to register first at GOAPS using their name, email id, password of choice, country of residence and mobile number. Thereafter, they need to login using the GATE ID and password they receive after registration. On logging in candidates can fill the online application form, upload the eligibility documents and scanned images. Lastly, they are needed to pay the application fee to successfully submit the application form.

Today, when the server is down and site is not working, is the last date to apply for GATE 2020 without late fee. Until end of the day, application fee is Rs 1500 for general, OBC candidates and Rs 750 for SC, ST, PwD, Transgender, female candidates. However, respective fee amounts between September 25 to October 01 will be Rs 2000 and Rs 1250.

All the candidates who are opting to appear for GATE 2020 from Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka & Kathmandu have tp pay US$ 70 in the extended period. On the other hand the candidates appearing from Dubai and Singapore have to pay US$ 120. If applied within today, such candidates can complete their registration by paying US$ 50 and US$ 100 respectively.

After the final last date to apply for GATE 2020 that is October 01, 2019, no other chance will be available for the candidates to apply for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. However, IIT Delhi has notified that the form correction window will be opening for editing/changing certain details in the form.

As per the notice by IIT Delhi on gate.iitd.ac.in, in the form correction window, candidates will be allowed to make changes regarding gender, category, exam paper, exam city, name.

Apart from the from correction notice, IIT Delhi also mentions that the candidates having trouble with OTP verification in either phone or email, can proceed with verification for either of the OTP in email or phone. However they have to make sure that they have verified the left out OPT before the registration date ends. The notice is as follows:

Delay in getting OTP 
If there is a delay in getting the OTP for verification, you may proceed for payment with verification of any one either email id or mobile number. You have to verify remaining one at later stage.

Also, the candidates can check their applicarion form status after the submissio of the form. To check the status the candidates need to login at GOAPS. In this regard IIT Delhi has issued the below statement:

Application Status: Under Scrutiny/Under Process
If the status of your application is “Under Scrutiny/Under Process”.  You need not worry.  Wait till the scrutiny team process your application. Only those candidates whose application need to be rectified in Photo/Signature/Supporting document, will get automatic email/SMS. The Scrutiny process will continue till few days even after the application portal is closed.

IIT Delhi

The candidates who complete their GATE 2020 Application Form fill up before the last date, will be issued the admit card for the exam. GATE 2020 Admit card will be available on appsgate.iitd.ac.in from January 03, 2019.
