The IIT Maderas, exam conducting body for GATE 2019 is allowing the candidates to change their exam paper for GATE 2019. The facility is open for those candidates who have successfully submitted their GATE 2019 Application form by making the complete payment before the last date. The candidates will be able to submit a request for GATE 2019 Exam Paper change through online mode from the GATE official website.
To submit the request for GATE 2019 Exam Paper Change, the candidates should visit the official website at appsgate.iitm.ac.in. Next, the applicants need to log in by entering details such as Enrollment ID / Email Address, and Password. Click on the “Submit” button. Lastly, the applicants should change the exam paper, as earlier submitted by them. To submit the GATE 2019 exam paper change, the applicants need to pay the requisite amount of the fee. Finally, submit the application form by making the necessary correction in it.
The candidates should note that the Paper change will be effective only after successful payment of the fee.
As of now, candidates can appear for GATE in 24 subjects in which Statistics has been the new addition. The closing date for Paper Change Request is October 23, 2018. So, after the news of paper change request candidates can change their subjects. The different subjects are Architecture & Planning, Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering so forth and so on. Candidates should make a note of the codes of the papers and try to remember them as this will help if they have to make a change in their papers.
The exam conducting body has also notified that it will allow the candidates to make corrections in the details such as Gender, Category, Exam city. The date for this has not yet been announced but it shall be announced soon on the official website.
GATE 2019 Examination will be conducted in online mode on 02, 03, 09, and 10 February 2019. The test will be conducted in two sessions, forenoon and afternoon session. GATE 2019 would contain questions of two different types in all the papers – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT).
All papers will be having 65 questions in total which will be of 100 marks. The duration of the examination is 03 Hours. In all 24 papers, the questions based on General Aptitude will carry 10 questions which will be of 15 marks.

Candidates should take a note that the question papers of AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, TN, ME, MN, MT, PE, PI, TF and XE will be comprised of 3 subjects namely Engineering & Mathematics, General Aptitude and the subject itself. Also, candidates will have to keep this thing also in mind that the question papers of AR, ST, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL will not be comprised of questions from Engineering Mathematics.
In GG Paper, Part A will have 25 questions carrying 1 mark each which may also include some of the numerical types of questions too. In Part B of the same paper, there will be 30 questions of 2 marks each which may also consist of some numerical type of questions. So, this paper will be of 100 marks in total which includes 85 marks of Part A and B and 15 marks of General Aptitude questions.
In XE Paper, Section A which is namely Engineering Mathematics will be comprised of 11 questions which will be of 15 marks in total. It will also have 7 questions of 1 mark each and 4 questions which will be of 2 marks each. This sections might also include Numerical Type Questions. Each of the optional sections of XE Paper from sections B to H will have 22 questions of 35 marks, 9 questions of 1 mark each and 13 questions of 2 marks each. Also, it might include Numerical Type Questions.
IN XL Paper the section P (Chemistry) will have 15 questions in a total of 25 marks, 5 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks each. Each of the optional sections of XL Paper (Sections Q through U) will have 20 questions in total which will be of 30 marks, 10 questions of 1 mark each and another set of 10 questions which will be of 2 marks each. XL Paper might also include Numerical Type Questions.
Another thing which candidates have to keep in mind while giving GATE 2019 Examination is that the in the question paper, each 1 marker questions will have a negative marking of -1/3. Also, each 2 marker questions will have a negative marking of -2/3. There is no negative marking in NATs.
This paper change process is an important step for GATE 2019 Examination as candidates might have doubts on their choice of papers. As this change has been given to the students, they should know this is a crucial step in order to attain GATE 2019 Admit Card as the admit card will comprise of all the necessary details including Candidate’s Name and his / her address, date and time of the examination with photograph and signature but most importantly it will also include the name of the subject or paper for which the candidate is appearing. From January 04, 2019 candidates can download their GATE 2019 Admit Card from the official website of GATE.
