After having canceled the pre-scheduled Civil Services 2020 exam, the UPSC is expected to announce a new date in May 2020. In a previous public notice issued earlier this month, UPSC canceled the preliminary stage exam of IAS 2020 that was originally scheduled to be held on May 31, 2020. The Commission was pushed to take the decision of postponement due to the unfortunate COVID-19 outbreak in the country. However, UPSC also indicated that the situations would be reviewed on May 20, 2020. Based on such developments, new dates of the exam are therefore highly likely to be released tomorrow.
The Union Public Service Commission released an official public notice dated 04 May 2020 through the website upsc.gov.in. The notice clearly indicated that the prelims of the IAS 2020 exam were canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic affecting the entire country. Although the exam was scheduled to be conducted later in May, the UPSC announced the postponement of the exam and indicated that authorities shall review matters on May 20, 2020 following which, new dates to conduct the exam would be declared in due course of time. Based on such assertion made by the UPSC in their latest updates, it is hoped for the Commission to come up with another public declaration as to when the exam is rescheduled.
The prelims of the Indian Administrative Services and the Indian Forest Services exam are held jointly as one common screening test. The Union Public Service Commission was all set to conduct the prelims on May 31, 2020. However, the situations did not turn out in favor of anyone as the entire country has been surviving the impact of the deadly COVID-19 virus since the beginning of the year. The UPSC, similar to many other central and state-level government recruitment agencies was forced to review the dates of all exams that were scheduled to be conducted this year. Earlier in May 2020, the Commission released the official notice to postpone the pre-scheduled exam date.
Those who applied for the IAS or IFS 2020 recruitment exams are advised to check the official UPSC website tomorrow on May 20. The UPSC is expected to re-schedule the exam on a later date so that candidates may get enough time to prepare for the exam. In their earlier notification, UPSC indicated that candidates would be given at least 30 days’ notice before the exam is conducted on a fresh date. Therefore, it is likely that the new exam date may be scheduled during the third or fourth week of June 2020.
