DU to Hold 4th Semester Exams in ABE Mode, Decision on 1st Year Soon – What’s Assessment Based Exam? And Where Are The Datesheets?

Dehi University has announced that the May June 2021 final semester/annual examinations will be held from June 07, 2021 instead of June 01, 2021.

The University of Delhi has announced that the 4th semester (Intermediate) exams in 2021 will be held in the ABE mode while a decision regarding the conduct of first year examinations is to be announced soon. The University announced these developments through the official Twitter account indicating that detailed datesheets can be obtained from the official website i.e. du.ac.in.

In addition to the above, the University has also postponed the commencement of the final semester/annual examinations. Instead of June 01, 2021, final semester/annual examination of undergraduate degree courses are now scheduled to start from June 07, 2021. The official notice published in this regard is available online on the official website. DU also tweeted a snapshot of the notice which not only informs concerned candidates about the postponement of the final semester/annual exams from June 01 to June 07 this year but also indicates latest developments regarding datesheets.

As evident from the latest notice, the fourth semester (intermediate) exams of the May – June 2021 session is going to be conducted in the Assignment Based Mode (ABE) this year. The Twitter post reads “Intermediate semester IV for 3- year UG courses will be on ABE mode of Examination, Detailed guidelines to follow soon”. The University will clarify further details of the examination in due course of time. However, for the time being, the interpretation of an ABE mode exam means that students will be evaluated on the basis of assignments submitted subject wise. Candidates are however advised to be vigilant on the official website of the Delhi University for further clarifications and details of the mode of examination.

While the decision has already been taken by the University to conduct the final semester/annual exams May – June 2021 for all intermediate (fourth semester) students in the ABE mode this year, no decision has been made in this regard for first-year students. The University is expected to announce details of conducting the final semester/annual exam of the first year (2nd semester) exams very soon on the official website. The official tweet reads “Examination of first year students (II Sem) will be decided in due course of time”.

The University was all set to conduct these examinations from June 01, 2021 onward. However, as indicated, the date has been postponed and the examinations are now scheduled to be held from June 07, 2021. The notice reads Accordingly, the datesheets released for commencement of examinations from 15th May, 2021 are hereby withdrawn. The University has indicated that new date sheets will be released on the University website very soon.
